Why does India rank so Poor Globally? | International Conspiracy? | Akash Banerjee vs Bhakt Banerjee
The 'international conspiracy' against India is not limited to toolkits & environmentalists - its a much bigger net to keep us down when we are trying to rise after a 1000 years. Bhakt Banerjee makes a strong argument against biased international rankings that always place India at the bottom of the pile (sometimes even below Pakistan) - like the Hunger Index / HDI / Press Freedom and Economic Development Index.     Who wins this battle of wits, passion and facts?  *** Unlock MEMBER ONLY - Discord / Chats / Content PATREON - https://www.patreon.com/thedeshbhakt YOUTUBE - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmTM_hPCeckqN3cPWtYZZcg/join MERCH - https://kadakmerch.com/thedeshbhakt *** SUBSCRIBE / FOLLOW US ***   YouTube: - https://youtube.com/thedeshbhakt Twitter :- https://twitter.com/thedeshbhakt Web - https://thedeshbhakt.in/ Instagram :- https://instagram.com/akashbanerjee.in Facebook :- https://www.facebook.com/akashbanerjee.in Podcast - https://anchor.fm/thedeshbhakt **More DeshBhakt Videos** The Deshbhakt Episodes: https://bit.ly/3eLgvLv INDIA IN EMERGENCY: https://bit.ly/3dM4Bj8 Bhakt Banerjee Rocks: https://bit.ly/2VuFQlf B&D Media and the Public: https://bit.ly/389jjzw Akash-Vaani: https://bit.ly/3eKvN3h ** Credits ** Writer : Akash & Sarthak  Editor : Tushar Producer : Avishrant ** Resources **  https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/india-slips-in-press-freedom-rankings-javadekar-slams-report/article31494652.ece https://indianexpress.com/article/opinion/columns/uscirf-report-on-religious-freedom-in-india-anti-caa-protests-gujarat-northeast-delhi-riots-6436322/ https://www.downtoearth.org.in/blog/food/global-hunger-index-why-is-india-trailing--73920 https://m.economictimes.com/news/economy/indicators/india-slips-26-spots-on-economic-freedom-index-report/articleshow/78045795.cms https://theprint.in/national-interest/modi-is-popular-bjp-keeps-winning-but-indias-indicators-global-rankings-are-alarming/569789/?amp https://scroll.in/latest/981602/india-slips-17-spots-to-111th-rank-on-2020-human-freedom-index https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/india-ranks-near-bottom-of-all-countries-with-particularly-low-scores-on-air-quality-climate-change-mitigation/articleshow/76200344.cms https://scroll.in/latest/950716/india-slips-10-spots-to-51st-rank-in-annual-democracy-index-due-to-erosion-of-civil-liberties https://indianexpress.com/article/world/finland-happiest-country-world-happiness-report-united-nations-6324942/ https://m.economictimes.com/magazines/panache/et-womens-forum-why-india-needs-to-hear-the-voice-of-half-a-billion/articleshow/74184151.cms https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/india-slips-two-places-on-global-corruption-perception-index/article30634389.ece https://www.business-standard.com/article/pti-stories/india-has-highest-bribery-rate-in-asia-transparency-international-120112600619_1.html https://www.thehindu.com/business/india-ranks-low-at-76th-place-on-global-social-mobility-index/article30607184.ece --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thedeshbhakt/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thedeshbhakt/support

This is because, according to research, 66% of global consumers are willing to pay more for environmentally friendly products. So, what exactly is 'greenwashing'? Tune in to Tony and Narain as they simplify some broad and non-specific claims. Meet your hosts aka The Ultracrepidarians! What Nodeep Kaur’s arrest says about plight of landless farmers
On 12th January, the Haryana police arrested Nodeep Kaur, a Dalit labour activist while she was protesting against the non-payment of wages at Kundali industrial area (KIA) at Sonipat, Haryana. Kaur is from Punjab and the leader of Mazdoor Adhikar Sangathan, who is supporting ongoing farmer’s protests at the Haryana and UP border. US Vice President Meena Harris tweeted her picture asking her to release brought her to notice. Farmer’s uprising circling National Capital got momentum and support across the globe, which asked the Central government to repeal three farms laws, which was passed through ordinance last year. United farmers organizations had 11 rounds of talks with the government and submitted 8 point charter. That demand includes the law on Minimum Support Price or MSP and repeals those three laws, which are related to open market trading, contractual farming, and excluding many products from the essential commodity list. The one issue, which is still missing from the farmer’s protest and on their agenda is Landless farmers or farm laborers issues. The 2011 census data shows that 71% of Dalits are landless laborers. In rural areas, 58.4% of Dalit households do not own land at all. Landless farmers belong to Dalit and Backward community with depressed wages and vulnerable to caste atrocity on daily basis. The host of this episode of The Suno India Show, Prashant Kanojia spoke to Nodeep Kaur’s sister, Rajvir Kaur and her mother, Swarnjit Kaur. We also spoke to farmer leaders and protestors from the protest site and a journalist from Bihar. While explaining how the farm laws would affect landless farmers, they also highlighted the issues related to landless farmers and labourers, which has been undermined and is not on the agenda of the ongoing protest. They explain how these farmers are not recognized as farmers and how they could widen the protest across India.  See sunoindia.in/privacy-policy for privacy information.

#95 - Battleground Kerala: Will Pinarayi Vijayan return? | Bharatvaarta | Politics
Kerala is scheduled to go to the polls in May. Politically, it has  largely been bi-polar, with power alternating between the CPI(M)-led  Left Democratic Front and the Congress led United Democratic Front.  While the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government has praised for having  delivered welfare schemes efficiently during the Kerala Floods of 2018,  it’s recent mishandling of the COVID pandemic and also the spate of  scams has cast a shadow on its performance. In the UDF, the Congress’  decline politically has mirrored the rise of the Muslim League who are  now a more assertive ally, causing tensions between various allied  demographics. The Kerala Congress (Mani) split, with K M Mani's son Jose K Mani,  allying with the LDF has made matters grave. Meanwhile, the BJP has seen  a groundswell of support in recent times led by Prime Minister Modi’s  own popularity; he has inaugurated multiple infrastructure projects in  the State, recently, including the 2,000-MW Pugalur-Thrissur high  voltage direct current (HVDC) power transmission corridor. On this episode, we are joined by political experts and commentators, Ananth Krishna Subhalakshmy and Rohit Jayaraman for a deep dive analysis  of what factors could influence the results of this upcoming election.  This podcast is available on YouTube, Apple, Google, Spotify, Breaker,  Stitcher, and other popular platforms. If you like this episode, then  please like, subscribe and share! 96. Fire-Proofing Our Cities
Fire safety engineer Sumit Khanna and Vasanthi Hariprakash talk about how each of us can play our role in reducing the risk of fire accidents as we lead our lives in cities. Both Sumit and Vasanthi are associated with the Beyond Carlton trust. They discuss India’s fire safety codes and policies, discuss implementation challenges, and explore important questions about fire safety that every citizen can ask – about their homes, apartments, offices, malls, hotels and any places they visit. Beyond Carlton is a citizen-led initiative that works to improve fire-safety awareness across India. It was started by Uday Vijayan, after he lost his young son in the preventable Carlton Towers fire tragedy that occurred on February 23, 2010. Sumit Khanna is a trained fire protection engineer from the National Fire Service College, Nagpur. With over 12 years of experience in the fire protection industry, Sumit has worked with multiple companies in developing building codes, writing standards and promoting fire prevention. He has contributed to India’s National Building Code, helped amend Karnataka’s fire laws, and was one of the people inspecting the Carlton Towers Fire in 2011. Vasanthi Hariprakash is a journalist, radio and podcast host, and storyteller. She has worked with the Indian Express, with Radio City 91 FM as the host of the primetime show Good Morning Bangalore, with NDTV, among others.
