Episode 272: “Creating jobs and impact through tradition and influence”
Guest: Kate Stewart, founder/CEO, Bauble Stockings
THIS WEEK’S TOPIC:
As we kick off the holiday season, I’ll be sharing some episodes that not only include great career and business advice, but that emphasize the power of investing in others. If you’ve been following She Said/She Said for a while, you already know how much I love showcasing women entrepreneurs, especially those who have created companies that give back and create economic opportunities for others.
When we think about influence, we often see it in the way someone builds and runs her business or her office, the way she manages her team, and the way she collaborates and shares with others. Often our success is directly tied to the power of our connections and our investments in others. This week’s guest shares great perspective on this topic.
THIS WEEK’S GUEST:
Kate Stewart created a business out of a unique family tradition — the “bauble stocking.” Her company, which she named “Bauble Stockings,” partners with a Haitian company to make hand-stitched needlepoint holiday and special celebration stockings. With more than half of Haiti’s population living below the poverty line, the jobs Bauble Stockings creates helps to fuel the local economy, and creates economic opportunity for its stitchers and their families.
While the social impact part of Kate’s story is inspiring, so is her approach to collaborations, and to the consistent approach she takes to give back in other ways.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE:
