Seeing Your Future With Faith, Not Fear
Play
God has given you a life vision and a purpose. But you can’t fulfill that vision until you clearly see it. In this message, Pastor Rick Warren kicks off a series on the transforming power of vision by describing the consequences of an unclear vision and revealing the antidote to fear in pursuing the future God has planned for you.

Your Brother’s Blood
Scripture Reading: Genesis 4:1-12 “Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.” Genesis 4:10 Abel was the first person to be killed in human history, and his brother, Cain, was the first murderer. How did Cain come to do such a terrible thing? Cain was jealous and angry because God did not look with favor on his offering. But Cain did not give God the best of his fruits of the soil. He simply gave some of them, and that dishonored God. God explained to Cain that he simply needed to do what was right, but Cain refused to listen. He did not control his anger or his jealousy, and he killed his brother. Though anger can be one of our innate character traits, we must rule over it. We can be angry, but it is a sin not to manage our anger. Abel was the victim of Cain’s selfishness and wickedness. How undeserving was his death! How searing was the pain in his heart when his own brother killed him? If we experienced such hatred for serving God through faith, how painful would that be? God understands our grief from injustice and pain. The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.” God acknowledged Abel’s grief and stood up for him. We must walk the path of faith, as Abel did. God will guide our footsteps, acknowledge our pain, and follow up with justice. God, you understand our hearts and our griefs. Please help us serve you and do what is right, caring for others and not hurting them. For Jesus’ sake, Amen.

Love Psalms: Psalm 40 - A Prayer
What does it really mean to pray honest prayers to God? The honest prayers of David can teach us so much about how to come to God in prayer. This is the third episode in our Love Psalms series. Here is the first episode, and here is the second. What Nicole Covers in This Episode: • How to dig into large sections of Scripture at a time • In this honest prayer, what is David asking, what is he declaring? How can we take that framework and apply it to the way we pray? • What is the backstory and how does that information help us understand it? • Where else do these verses show up in Scripture? (Hebrews 10, Matthew 5:3) • Takeaway Principle 1: To praise God is to remember. We can call on the promises of God in confidence, even when we are in a place of trouble. There is a trust we are cultivating with God when we choose to praise and remember who he is. • Takeaway Principle 2: The attitude of the heart is more important than any other offering (cf. Matthew 15:8; Isaiah 29:13) • Which of these aspects of prayer do you want to commit to today? Are you looking to get more out of your time studying the Bible? Or maybe you're ready to finally start building a consistent, daily quiet time with the Lord? If that sounds like you, then Nicole would like to personally invite you to join her Help!
