As quickly as it returned, it was over once again. Here is the final (for now) episode of GamesMaster, as Shellzz takes on a near-impossible FIFA '22 challenge, Ty faces his Ty Breaker on Tekken 7, and Little Lad Larry races Elz The Witch on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Plus, two lads scrub their way through Street Fighter V: Champion Edition with more than the Golden Joystick on the line.

S08E02 REVISITED - Deathloop / Override 2: Super Mech League / SpeedRunners / Cuphead [feat. Quang]
We're only two episodes in and we're halfway through the revisit!
Kay Pow is a silly sausage on Deathloop, MC Fixa and Sunpai run for their lives on Speedrunners, and Christian Dinh returns to GamesMaster in the hopes of becoming Chrissy Two Sticks playing Cuphead. Plus, Warren Brown acts like a celebrity as he takes on Little Lad Larry on Override 2: Super Mech League.
Rab, Ty and Grado try out various video game outfits to test their durability, Grado learns about visual novels, Rab reviews the Nintendo Switch OLED, and a group of kids create a legend in the form of BOUNCING BUM BUMS.
And to celebrate this achievement, Ash speaks with Quang from the team that made Bouncing Bum Bums!

When Games Attack (2004 - 2005)
"People have been talking about it on the Internet saying it’s the ‘Son of GamesMaster’ but it’s a lot funnier than that" said Dominik Dimaond in a 2004 press release. "It’s so good, I’m soiling myself now just talking about it".
Dom and mates return to our TV screens for one series of When Games Attack, a comedy show about video games that is here to save viewers from the "pish" being put out by Gamezville, Bits, Thumb Bandits and Gamepad.
And in this episode, Dom counts down the top 5 video games that shouldn't be released outside of Japan, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty goes head-to-head with Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, and a Pro Evo tournament kicks off. We also get some behind the scenes on Earthworm Jim, and Dom visits a flight school in California to get shafted from behind by Johnny Ffinch.

Ultimate Gamer (2003 - 2004)
We move over to the Sci-Fi channel this week, and return to former BITS gal Emily Newton Dunn for the third of the 2003 contenders to the throne. Ultimate Gamer, going by the comments left on forums from the time, was the underground best choice for video game fans on UK television.
Managing to somehow look cheaper than both Gamepad and Gamezville while at the same time having the budget to travel the world for overseas features, this end of the year wrap-up episode is a sort of 'best of' of Ultimate Gamer in 2003. There's features on XIII and NBA Jam, reviews of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Tony Hawk's Underground, and previews of the big games of 2004 including Conker: Live and Reloaded (which eventually came out in 2005).

Digitiser (1993-Present)
Whilst our focus thus far has been on those programmes vying for GamesMaster's crown and audience we would be remiss if we didn't skip back a bit to March 1993 and revisit the *other* reason gamers tuned in to Channel 4 throughout the 90s.
Originally discussed back in series 3 and now in it's 30th year, it's time to take another look at Digitiser and talk once more with one of it's creators Paul Rose aka Mr. Biffo.

Gamezville (2003 - 2004)
If gaming is in your blood, then this show is some sort of organ! I tell you what listeners, Jamie and Daz are our hosts for a show that contains not one, not two, not three but FOUR challenges... all on Group S Challenge (Xbox).
I tell you what though, not only that but it contains 'reviews' of WRC3 (PS2), Scooby Doo Mystery Mayhem (GBA) and Prince of Persia Sands of Time (PC)! We're also reminded that in 2003: Halo is everything, Chrome (PC) used to be something other than a web browser, that people still need to back up their phones sim cards, and that someone thought playing a PS2 in a back of a car was a good idea. The Games Guru also makes multiple appearances to insult the public, throw out cheats, and give a mixture of gaming history and pure idle speculation.
Dominik Diamond once compared this show to eating your own shit, and I tell you what, this is definitely a show that needs to fill its hours runtime.

Thumb Bandits (2001 - 2002)
Have we all got our degrees in thumb bending at the ready? In the ashes of Bits rose Thumb Bandits on 4Later for a short-lived run that was heavily hated online. Mostly because they often got things wrong, sometimes because they fancied Aleks but hated Iain, and massively because they gave Max Payne a bad review. It was also a show that was heavily re-edited and re-filmed after airing. So let's take a look at it.

There's news on Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (oops) as well as Alien: Resurrection on the PSX (more oops) and Quake64 (less oops). UCP Xmas Special 2022: Eurotrash Xmas Special 1995
Bonsoir my podcast chums! Welcome to our 2022 Xmas special where we stay up past our bedtime for a little bit of late night Channel 4.

S05E05 - Destruction Derby / Cupid / Bug! / Mortal Kombat 3
Things feel a bit old school in the first half of the episode as Roxanne Caller and Ryan Brent try to survive the longest on Destruction Derby, while the second half is all Series 5 as Emmerdale’s Stuart Wade and Tonicha Jeronimo put their on-screen relationship to the test on pub quiz machine Cupid, before playing Bug! on the Saturn blindfolded. Oh, and Mortal Kombat's Christopher Lambert "plays" Mortal Kombat 3. Bucky O'Hare ears.
We've got previews of some games that could help flagging Saturn sales, reviews of WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game (PSX) and Vector Man (MegaDrive), and a quick look at Mortal Kombat which is released in cinemas tomorrow.

Alister McDonald, Amber Grig, and Tiny Tom Jenkins enter the GamesMaster Academy to take on platforming action on Mr. Nutz, with the winners going head to head on Muhammad Ali Heavyweight Boxing. Meanwhile, Cobra and Scorpio from Gladiators take each other on in the second semi-final of the ClayFighter tournament.
We get a feature on the portable Phillips CD-i, GamesMaster helps struggling gamers on Mr. Nutz, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and Cool Spot, and we get reviews of Lamborghini American Challenge (GameBoy), Pac-Attack (SNES), and Fantastic Dizzy (MegaDrive).

BONUS STAGE - Games World S01E01 [feat. Rik Henderson & Larry Bundy Jr.]
While GamesMaster ruled the video game challenge landscape on Channel 4, and Bad Influence provided something slightly different on CITV, Sky asked Hewland International to pitch them their own challenge-based TV show. That show would become Games World, a 5-night-a-week extravaganza of challenges, cheats, reviews and Videators. In this special bonus episode, Luke and Ash review the first episode of Games World - The Eliminator - which sees challenges on Cash Dash, Super SWIV, Pilotwings, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Plus we speak to one of the show's researchers Rik Henderson, who would not only become an on-screen Videator, but also the lead producer for the revival fourth season. Follow Rik Henderson on Twitter.

GamesMaster Magazine #1
GamesMaster isn't just the UK's greatest video game challenge TV show, it's now also the UK's greatest video game multi-format magazine! Released in December 1992, GamesMaster would run for an impressive 25 years, ending recently in October 2018.
In this bonus episode, Luke and Ash dive into the first issue of the magazine - with news on Street Fighter II on the MegaDrive, Sonic the Hedgehog tearing up the music charts, and the launch of the 3DO! There's previews of Mr. Nutz, James Pond 3: Operation Starfish and Wing Commander on SNES, along with big reviews of The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare, Micro Machines, and *that* review of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. All that and Dominik Diamond's big purple column! It's a lot to get to grips with!
