Two by Twos / The Truth
1 hr 16 min

Laura McConnell was born into a fundamentalist Christian sect that claims it has no name. Former member Elizabeth Coleman told Nathan Jolly for earlier this year that, “It is of utmost importance to them that they do not have an official name or headquarters or centrally identifiable presence anywhere on earth.”

From his investigative reporting in 2013, journalist Chris Johnston estimated there were 20,000 members in Australia, and hundreds of thousands around the world. Sometimes referred to as The Truth, the Two by Twos, or the Friends and Workers, the sect has seen multiple leaders face accusations of child sexual abuse, some of which are currently in court. Laura and many former members believe that this highly secretive group should certainly be considered a cult.

#Breaking Code Silence w/ Caroline Lorson
Caroline Lorson is a survivor of the troubled teen industry. At the age of 14, she was forcibly removed from her home in Southern California by two transporters and was flown across the country to a lockdown behavior modification school in Upstate New York. Caroline stayed at this facility for 29 months and was stripped of all of her human rights and subjected to coercive thought reform techniques. It took Caroline years to recover from her experience and she now actively works to reform the troubled teen industry through the Breaking Code Silence organization and her podcast, Inside the Program. Breaking Code Silence is a movement organized by a network of survivors and activists to raise awareness of the problems in the Troubled Teen Industry, and the need for reform. Caroline shares with Rachel her experience with the behaviour modification school and provides some context for these types of institutions by sharing some of the history behind how they came to prominence. Before You Go: Rachel offers a message to parents who may be considering boarding schools or even behavior modification schools and explains how to ensure the safety of their children Thanks to our newest Patreon supporters: Ellen Mooney Julie Sespico Kicesie Drew Antonio Amaral Braga Theresa Lyn Widmann Help support the show at You can find out more about Caroline's work and further resources here: Inside the Program Podcast: WWASP Survivors: Breaking Code Silence:

Donna and Victor's Very Big and Very Ugly Disagreement (Live on Youtube)
In this episode of Nighttime Live, I will be joined by the Operator (host of 911 Calls Podcast) to discuss my favorite 3 minutes of audio… EVER. The origin of the audio is a bit of a mystery, but it seems to include two employees of a major Canadian telecommunications company having a very big and very ugly disagreement during an otherwise routine inter company telephone interation. Donna (who is speaking from a call center in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia) looses her patience with Victor (speaking from a kiosk in a Brampton, Ontario mall) when he seems to be in breach of some sort of task related requirement. The result, is a melt down for the ages.
