When we think about running, most of us think of it as a form of physical exercise – something that we do to lose weight, look better or stay healthy. Some of us like to measure how far and how quickly we can run. But running can be so much more than that. What if someone told you that running could be a tool to transform your life? This week, film-maker and inspirational human being, Sanjay Rawal, is here to do just that.

 

Whilst making his latest film (3100: Run and Become), Sanjay followed the most elite multi-day race in the world - the 3,100 mile race, which takes place on the streets of Queens, New York City each summer. He also followed the Kalahari Bushman and a group of Japanese Monks. What was common amongst all three groups of people was that they performed superhuman feats with the sole goal of spiritual growth. Sanjay talks about their individual journeys and what we can all learn from them.

 

Through physical exertion, Sanjay believes that we can all understand who we are and connect to something bigger than ourselves. We discuss how modern life presents many obstacles for us, but Sanjay explains how we can all achieve self-expansion, whether we are running or simply walking down the road. This is an incredible conversation – I think you will really enjoy it.

Research highlights a crucial link between nutrition, ADHD and brain health, and there is some evidence, although not fantastic quality evidence, but some nonetheless, that indicates smart food choices for ADHD and Brain Health and data on supplementation which can influence cognitive Function. On the show we have Dr Rachel Gow, Ph.D who is both a nutrition professional and experienced researcher plus a parent of a child with ADHD who has the experience of being in the position of not knowing what to do to help their child. ADHD affects 1 in 20 children - 500,000 in the UK and roughly one in every classroom. And there are some incredibly well known figures in business, the arts and dance who are diagnosed with ADHD, but there is also a darker side to the condition that doesn’t get as much airtime and is something that we should be mindful of. Rachel is a London based psychologist specialising in child and adult mental health and has specific expertise in ADHD, Autism, Depression, Anxiety and related learning and behaviour conditions. My guest today is my insane friend, Marcelo Garcia. Marcelo is an entrepreneur, health enthusiast, non-profit founder, and explorer (and tech expert, and a million other things). Marcelo created a makeshift Zoom setup while solo climbing Mount Blanc after weeks of prolonged fasting in order to take this interview, so he's coming at us from the highest campsite in Europe. He founded Wisdom Accelerator to encourage the young and ambitious to connect with peer-aged role models and take their wisdom to the next level. ("Doing the right thing at the right time").
