What in the World is Happening with this Pandemic?
As we consider the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us are inclined to ask 'why' this is happening. I believe the more important question is, "What?" What is happening in our communities and around the world? And what should our response be as disciples of Jesus? What is a biblical perspective on this pandemic? And what should be we saying to one another and to our friends, neighbors, and coworkers about what we are going through?

Why we need solitude and community.
The pandemic was hard because it forced us to be alone. But in our culture, we need to learn the benefits of being silent and knowing that God is God. During the pandemic, we also learned that we really need others. Isolation makes us sick. And the church is really a family and a community, not just a place we attend. We need authentic relationships to stay healthy.

In this message, we will consider what made Joseph great (a righteous man) was not what he said, it was what he did that came out of who he was.

Fatherhood Part 2
In the church calendar, the Sunday after Christmas is often a time to reflect on Jesus' second coming-- Advent 2.0. First he came as a vulnerable baby-King, and his second coming will display his full sovereignty. But what did Jesus himself say about his second coming? In this message we look at the three things that characterized his teachings on this important topic.
The Greatest Gift of All!
The Gift of Favor
The favor of God was brought to us in the birth of Jesus. God's favor is his goodwill, approval, and kindness. God desires to give all men His favor if we will believe it and receive it. Once we receive the favor of God in Jesus, we can increase it in relationship with Him by humbly seeking Him. Isaiah 9, the Christmas prophecy guarantees us a joyful harvest!
Peace With Him Provides Peace Within!
One of God's gifts to us is highlighted in the Christmas story. "Peace on earth," said the angels. God provides us lasting peace in spite of our circumstances.
The Gift of Joy!
The angel announced to the shepherds, "behold I bring you good news of great joy...!" What is the joy that God gives, and how do we choose to embrace it?
Being a Global Disciple of Jesus
What is Your Part in the Story?
Give God a Little More Time

How Can We Live in Sexual Integrity in a Sex Charged Culture?

Are We Living in the "End Times?"
This message answers the question "Are We Living in the End Times?". It also explores how we know this to be true and what our attitude about the last days should be. Does the Bible say that things must get worse before Jesus will return? Does the Bible prophesy any positive things about the last days? Are things actually getting worse? Shall we save the earth or escape it? The message discusses the general negativity that many believers fall into about the world around us and encourages us to adopt Hope as a more fitting approach to the last days.

God has us in an active tension to grow us and often uses that tension between being set apart from the world while being relevant to it to speak to us and through us.

The Book of Acts contains various ways to be a witness to the world around us. Perhaps the most obvious is to confront the world with the truth of God's salvation in Jesus Christ. This message will bring both encouragement and caution for this way of being a witness to the world.
Something to Live For
"Eat the Word!"
We need to value and honor the Word of God for the treasure that it is.
The World on Your Doorstep
We at Ephrata Community Church are about to spend the week hosting "The Sending"-- a mission conference with dozens of representatives from around our nation and the world. It is one of those weeks where we will receive inspiration as we hear of amazing things that God is doing. We will also hear of the challenges we face as we partner with God in those endeavors. Whatever the outcome, a week from now, we don't want to be so impressed by what others are doing, or so overwhelmed by the need, that we don't know what we can do to help. Together we will explore what we can do as everyday individuals when we find "the world on our doorstep."
His Mission Our Mission
Did you know that Jesus is introduced in all four Gospels as "the one who baptizes you in the Holy Spirit? This message looks at the summary statements in scripture that state why Jesus came and then traces his methods of training his disciples how to carry on his work after he left the earth. Our mission today is not only to announce the good news of the Kingdom but also to do the deeds that Jesus did including healing the sick and casting out demons.

Step Up and Take Your Place
We all have a place of influence in the world around us, it is up to us to make the most of that opportunity.
Put In A Good Word

What If Jesus Were Your Commencement Speaker
What would Jesus say if He were your commencement speaker? Here are four points to consider.
Responding to God's invitation to learn to pray.
Tale of Two Kings
An examination of the lives of King Saul and King David reveal a character flaw that leads to Saul's failure, while the opposite demonstration of character leads to David's fruitfulness. We'll learn how we can apply what we learn to our prayer lives.
Never Give Up!
Jesus teaches us two parables on prayer, both of which teach us the same lesson - just don't quit!
Building Your House of Prayer
Prayer has many aspects that we'll need to incorporate into our lives to have effective prayer lives. This message will explore two additional aspects of our prayer lives.
In Acts 4 when believers prayed for boldness in the face of persecution by authorities and the whole place shook as God filled them with the Holy Spirit. This has happened in church history as recently last 70 years ago in Scotland. What is needed is prevailing prayer that fills the bowls of heaven until God comes down.
Prayer works, that is, it is effective and powerful to bring change and God's will into life's circumstances. Listen as Jimmy gives understanding to the "work side" of prayer.
Lord, Teach Us To Pray
Even though we know how to pray, we regularly need to ask the Lord for a prayer renewal in our lives.

The Finger of God
While we live in a culture of antisupernatural bias God wants to break into our lives with the miraculous.

The Power of Connection
Isolation. Shame. Not measuring up. Limitations. How do break out of patterns that are not helping us but may in fact be hurting us? The answer may lie in the power of a friend's help. Listen in this message as pastor Jimmy teaches on the power of connection to Jesus, the church, and the world.
It's all about Jesus!
Jesus is the central piece of all life! Truly understanding Jesus' preeminence radically changes our perspective. We have to fight against the traditions and forms of man that keep us from Jesus Himself!
Let Go - Take Hold
The New Testament book of Colossians speaks amazing and wonderful truths about who we are in Christ. In order for us to fully embrace this truth, we need to let go of our past.
7 Days Later
Each of us has all the evidence of the reality of Christ and his work to trust him with all that we are.
Worship, The Ultimate Way to Connect With God
This message focuses on our priority of abiding in Christ with a lesser emphasis on the benefits of abiding.
God Wants to Talk to You
God has been speaking to us since creation. Even though we lost intimacy with God through sin, God has always wanted to talk to us and central to the New Covenant is God's promise that we will hear Him, and that He will put His words in our mouths.
What Would You Do?
This message examines the responses of people who encountered Jesus after the resurrection. Put yourself in their "shoes." What would you do?

When raising children in the church teaching God's laws and modeling righteous behaviors are absolutely critical but the one thing you can't teach is an experience. Teens also needs an encounter with the perfect love and the perfect truth that is Jesus Christ.
Single and Seeking
Singles are naturally seekers. But what are they seeking? This message will help singles and those who love them navigate the waters of singleness to the shore of marriage.

A Vision for 222
Detox: Coming Clean
In the same way that we detox physically from the contaminates we pick up in our bodies, so we also need to take the time and effort to detox our soul and spirit from the contaminates of the world.
Our Piece of the Puzzle
As we continue our series on the church, what is the specific calling for Ephrata Community Church.
Turning the World Upside Down
Kevin Eshleman preached an outstanding message previously on the church that "the gates of hell cannot prevail against" mentioning that the early church in the book of acts "turned the world upside down". In this message Barry lists some essential elements to the mission of the church that enable us to make that kind of impact on the surrounding culture.
The Church: Hope of the World
What did Jesus have in mind when He said "I will build my church?" This message looks at the three contexts within the New Testament in which the word "church" is used, and how we can live out each in our day today.
Circles Are Better Than Rows
The currents of life seem to constantly pull us away from God. Furthermore, the temptation to become isolated from others due to fears, shame, or pain is also real. In this message, we will talk about the realities of the spiritual drift, and offer a reliable remedy taught in the scriptures that helps us combat it.
Growing in Freedom
God promises us freedom from those things in our lives that prevent us from experiencing our purpose in Him.
God is always true to his promises to us, but because of our personal experiences with promises on the earth we are skeptical about God's promises as well. Be encouraged to trust God to fulfill his promises to you.
In the same way that God fulfilled his promises in the sending of His Son Jesus Christ into the world as Savior, so He will also fulfill his promises to send His Son again to the earth. How do we live in such a way so that we faithfully wait for his coming.
Waiting is the hardest thing to do, yet God often requires it of his people. How do we wait for his intervention in our lives in a way that best honors him and his timing.
Drive Out Fear
1 John 4:18 tells us that perfect love casts out fear. We often fear approaching God, specifically because we know that He knows everything about us. We are afraid of judgement or punishment. But as we approach God in Jesus Christ, there is no punishment, simply redemption. Perfect love casts out fear.
It is easy to feel alone in our world today. It can appear that no one notices or sees us. But God sees, he knows us and what we are going through.
Don't Get Burned
This message will enable us to come to a greater understanding on God's desire and design for sexual expression.
Keep Calm and Carry On
This message addresses the question of evil and suffering in the world, and God's ultimate plan to deal with it.
Scripture tells us to avoid being "tossed by every wind of doctrine." But with so much teaching and information available to us, it is hard to know what is legitimate teaching and what might be dangerous. In this message we'll examine how we can remain "even keeled" in the times we live.
The Born Identity
All creation points to a creator. Evolution not only robs God of the glory that is rightly his, but also has detrimental affects on people. Build your faith in our creator, learn about the affects of evolution on our culture, and learn about what we can do to make a difference
The Miracle of the Body of Christ
The Miracle of Transformation
Is It Well With Your Soul?
This message talks about staying healthy in your soul and about God's promises to restore your soul.
Genetically Engineered to Grow
A discussion of the DNA of Ephrata Community Church as seen from the first mission and visions statement through to its development into what it is by 2014.
What do we think of when we hear the word "Church?" Is our understanding of the word consistent with the New Testament understanding of it? Let's consider the biblical approach to the church today.
A look at how we deal with change and some of our challenges and processes we go through when we face change. The message will apply not only to the changes related to our transition of leaders at ECC but to change in each of our personal lives and families. The bottom line is that change is necessary in order for us to move forward in many areas of our lives. We often need to let go of something to reach forward for the new things God has for us.
Modern Church Planting
The Inside Story
God is always at work both in us, and around us, but often we don't recognize this. This message will encourage people to look for, remember, and share openly about the work that He is doing around them.
Kingdom Stories are just testimonies of God's work in our lives. As Christians, we believe that God works in our lives every day. But when Christians are asked to share a recent testimony , they may struggle to think of one. In this message, Jesse shares his own life story as well as Paul's story in Acts 18. Jesse will coach you to recognize Kingdom Stories in both of these stories, and especially in your own life.
