SOCIETY & CULTURE CATEGORY: Mozhgan Moarefizadeh | The Wait
Play • 27 min

This week we go to the society and culture category with Mozhgan, co-host of The Wait. Mozhgan is one of around 14,000 refugees stranded in Indonesia. She’s spent the majority of her adult life in asylum, and while she’s never committed a crime, she is a fugitive. Mozhgan isn’t allowed to work, hold a passport, open a bank account, get married, or access many of the other human rights we freely enjoy. The Wait is a five part series created by The Guardian and The Walkley Foundation. Mozhgan co-hosted the podcast with Australian journalist, Nicole Curby.
