Hold Fast And Trust Your Instincts.
In this final episode of Season four Karen Arthur chats with star of stage, screen and radio, actress and Assistant Director Suzette Llewellyn. Suzette, founder of the BiBi crew - the first British comedy troupe to consist entirely of Black actresses. Suzette starred in Eastenders from 2019 to 2021. Having trained at LAMDA she went into television and films. Suzette is a proud West Londoner raised by Jamaican parents. She learned British Sign Language and now advocates for greater accessibility for Deaf particularly in the Theatre. Suzette talks about first feeling disconnected with the world and its noisiness that eventually led to a good friend mentioning peri-menopause. Suzettes openness and awareness of her own body plus a close group of friends sharing their menopause tales helped her to understand more about care specific to her evolving needs.

I Wasn't Ready To Have The Menopause Conversation With Myself!
In this episode Karen Arthur chats with Yoga teacher Yvonne O'Garro. A proud East Londoner, with Monserratian heritage, Yvonne left her career in HR to pursue her calling as a Yoga practioner specialising in Restorative and Hatha yoga. Yvonne feels most at peace when being of service and fulfils this by volunteering in a variety of ways. She shares how her denial regarding her menopause journey had nowehere to hide when suddenly started to experience hot flushes and brain fog. Find out how Yvonnes love of yoga and teaching deep rest has led her to help herself and others during menopause.

There Is More Out There For Me. There Is More IN me!
In this episode Karen Arthur chats with her Film maker, Broadcaster, Wellness and Creative healing practitioner, Chantal Miller. Chantal, who is also the founder of Island Girls Rock and co-host of The Relatable Podcast, has always been a woman who listens to her Self and knows what’s right for her but the onset of peri-menopause took her by complete surprise. We chat about her early life in Nevis and Leeds and her sudden move to London in her late twenties. Her subsequent return after many years in the capital to her homeland and all thats opening up in life. Find out how close family helped Chantal to begin her transition and helped it all start to make sense.

My menopause is like whispers and shouts...sometimes it's like a whirlwind!
In this episode Karen Arthur chats with Marilyn Fontaine (MJ) who is a formally trainer lecturer and NLP practioner. She is now an Artist, a trauma informed life coach specialising in helping creative trailblazers reach their infinite potential. MJ is the youngest in a big family of women of Dominican and Guadeloupean descent. Very much in touch with her bodily changes MJ talks openly about the many remedies she has tried to care for her menopause experience, some with varying degress of success and always with a disarming humour and self-knowledge. MJ is an OG on the London skating scene and it was great to hear her champion this other side to her creativity, espeically from an older womans perspective.

I scored top marks on my ADHD test! Where's MY Lollipop?
In this episode Karen Arthur chats with Jay Emme (pronounced ‘M’) . Jay is a Wedding cellist, Cello Coach and ADHD Life Coach based in Warwickshire. Jamaican diasporic, 44 year old Jay received a diagnosis for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) fairly recently. She talks us through this experience coupled with a realisation that she was going through peri-menopause in her late thirties, earlier than expected. Jay is funny and sweary. Buckle up!

Originally from Birmingham, Former chef now TikTok sensation, Carol moved to Barbados in her late 20s when her parents returned and is a proud Bajan. She shares how her own menopause campaigining came about and her various seemingly odd symptoms that led to her writing her own book to guide others through their menopause transition.

In this episode Karen Arthur chats with Valerie Lewis, life style model, Grief coach and Reiki practioner who is now semi-retired. Orginally from Sheffield, the aftermath of a famly tragedy brought Valerie to london forty years ago. Valerie shares her decades long struggle with fibroids and the details surrounding her symptoms when surgery threw her head first into menopause. We also talk about her lifelong love of sewing and creativity and delight in the little joys that every day life offers.

In this episode Karen Arthur chats with Mrs Amanda Allen, Specialist Oncology Dietician (and Karens younger sister) Amanda shares whole her hormonal journey started with a mystery illness when she was young through two years feeling out of touch with her body. We talk about sleep deprivation affecting work/life balance and the decisions leading to menopause care that made a huge difference in her mid 50s.

I'm a Post-Menopausal Menopause Doctor- I Talk About Menopause All The Time!
In conversation with ... Sexual health and HIV specialist Dr Nneka Nkwokolo. Nneka is also co-founder of Shades of Menopause a platform for women of colour to support each other and share stories and experiences. Nneka, who shares Bajan and Nigerian heritage, was raised in the Southern hemisphere before travelling to the UK to launch her career in medicine. She shares her knowledge of the challenges faced by women with HIV who are entering menopause and how access to optimum care is impacted by this intersection. We discuss medical research and how her crucial work is helping to reach more diverse demographics. Dr Nkwokolo also reminds us of the importance of letting go, advice she's learning herself. Donna tells us how the sudden onset of Bells Palsy (face paralysis) helped to play a part in finally quitting her stressful job and immersing herself fully in the Yoga world. Donna shares tips on starting a regular yoga practise for absolute beginners stating that 'Every body is a Yoga body'. Gloria, who was raised in SE London, talks about her Jamaican mothers stoic views on menopause as well as growing up in 70s SE London to working as the only Black BA performance manager. Gloria, a clothing technician and joy bringer, feels compelled to help menopausal women reclaim their fashion style. She shares her thoughts on menopause workplace policies and the importance of real education at work.
