Living from Union
Play • 10 min

As we finish up our week on centering our lives around meeting with God, today we’ll discover the beauty of living from union with him. Today may you discover and wonder at how incredibly connected and one with God you already are through Christ. May you live each day aware of and benefitting from that union, and be forever changed. It is my prayer that the reality of Christ’s finished work on the cross sinks into our hearts and minds today, and that our lives are turned upside down as a result.

Our Scripture for today comes from Galatians 2:20, and today's worship is Communion by Bryan McCleery.

Episode 12: Prayers That Will Drastically Change Your Life
We've been on such a fruitful journey on this podcast. We've learned that prayer is the way we communicate with the Maker of the Universe, and He not only hears us, but He also responds. We've learned that through prayer, we access healing, wisdom, discernment, peace, protection, joy, and so much power we could never experience on our own. On our last podcast in this series, we share specific prayers that can drastically change your life. We also close out this series by praying together over these areas so that you can start experiencing the benefit of prayer today. Key Takeaways: • If changing our thoughts from negative to positive can turn our day from good to bad, they also have to power to direct the course of our lives. • Our Heavenly Father is ready and willing to guide and direct our steps and provide us with His wisdom and discernment to make the right decisions. • Even when we are weary and weak, the Lord is willing and ready to grant us His strength to surrender to the things we think I can't do or be. How to Study the Bible
How to Study the Bible

Love Psalms: Psalm 40 - A Prayer
What does it really mean to pray honest prayers to God? The honest prayers of David can teach us so much about how to come to God in prayer. This is the third episode in our Love Psalms series. Here is the first episode, and here is the second. What Nicole Covers in This Episode: • How to dig into large sections of Scripture at a time • In this honest prayer, what is David asking, what is he declaring? How can we take that framework and apply it to the way we pray? • What is the backstory and how does that information help us understand it? • Where else do these verses show up in Scripture? (Hebrews 10, Matthew 5:3) • Takeaway Principle 1: To praise God is to remember. We can call on the promises of God in confidence, even when we are in a place of trouble. There is a trust we are cultivating with God when we choose to praise and remember who he is. • Takeaway Principle 2: The attitude of the heart is more important than any other offering (cf. Matthew 15:8; Isaiah 29:13) • Which of these aspects of prayer do you want to commit to today? Are you looking to get more out of your time studying the Bible? Or maybe you're ready to finally start building a consistent, daily quiet time with the Lord? If that sounds like you, then Nicole would like to personally invite you to join her Help! Pray For Unity
Scripture Reading: John 17:6-25 “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one.” John 17:22 Our Bible reading today is from a beautiful prayer that Jesus offered just before he was arrested and crucified. This is the longest prayer of Jesus that is recorded in the Bible. It also provides some of his most profound teaching about prayer. Here we can focus on two important truths. First, Jesus prays for his followers. He prays for their protection and their unity. He asks that his followers share the unity or oneness that Jesus shares with his Father—“that they may be one as we are one.” Through Jesus’ unity with the Father, we belong to Jesus and we belong to each other. Like Jesus, we should pray continually for unity with our sisters and brothers. Second, our unity in Christ is not an end in itself. We are Christ’s body for sharing his love with each other and with the world. The Holy Spirit uses our unity to draw others to Jesus, and Jesus unites them with the Father as well. Our oneness in Christ is our most powerful witness. Sadly, though, the unbelieving world too often sees us bitterly squabbling with each other. As Jesus prayed for our unity, let’s keep praying for the church’s unity so that Christ may be glorified in the world through us. Father, thank you for the unity we have through Jesus, your Son. Please, by your Spirit’s power, unify us to be a powerful witness of your love. Amen.
