A blog and podcast helping believers consider and understand the world we live in.
No Experience Needed
Scripture referenced in this podcast perspective: _Hebrews 11:1 and 3 (NKJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible._ _John 20:24-29 (ESV) Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.” Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”_ Links to some of the items mentioned in this podcast: * _Risk for COVID19 Deaths by Age Group_ * _David Hume_ Find more like this podcast at https://jbshreve.com/

Quit Listening to the Noise
John 15:12-14 (NIV) My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. Consider the issues and causes that provoke you today. Consider what is so important that you are arguing about on Facebook. Much of what many Christians are saying and debating today has nothing to do with the Kingdom of God. It betrays the true treasure of their heart. And it is rooted in an earth-based, fleshly value system.

What Is Spiritual Strength?
_Verses Referenced In This Podcast Devotional - What Is Spiritual Strength_ * _All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. 18 It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. 19 By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.” Genesis 3:17-19 (NLT)_ * _Blessed are those whose strength is in you,_ _whose hearts are set on pilgrimage._ _As they pass through the Valley of Baka,_ _they make it a place of springs;_ _the autumn rains also cover it with pools._ _They go from strength to strength,_ _till each appears before God in Zion. Psalms 84:5-7 (NIV)_ * _But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 (NIV)_ * _ Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. ” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 (NIV_ Also, check out this article regarding deaths of despair that JB referenced in the podcast.

Mark of the Beast - And the Vaccine
Biblical Passages Referenced in This Podcast Episode On the Mark of the Beast: _Revelation 13:11-18 (NIV) 11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666._ * _Revelation 14:9-12_ * _Revelation 15:2-3_ * _Revelation 16:1-2_ * _Revelation 19:19-21_ * _Revelation 20:4_ * _Deuteronomy 6:1-9_ _Colossians 2:17 (NIV) These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ._ As mentioned in the episode, the hope is that people will follow their convictions when it comes to the vaccine. JB talked about that in _last week's perspectives podcast episode with Dr. Lofton._ Be sure to check that out if you have not already. If you want to leave a comment and address a perspective not considered in this podcast episode on the Mark of the Beast, you can do that all the way down at the bottom of this page. _Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." _ _Joshua 1:6-9_ A primary place where we build internal strength is in the arena of our mind. Where are do our thinking patterns go? What authority do distractions have in our life? What mental habits have developed in our lives that are promoting earth-based thinking rather than faith-based thinking? _Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. _ _Colossians 3:2_ _Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. __Philippians 4:8-9_ _ ...since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments 5 and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ. _ _2 Corinthians 10:4-5 _ If you enjoyed this Thinking Strong podcast devotional you can access more podcast devotionals here and access the archives when you become a Patreon supporter here.

Building on the Rock
Points covered in this podcast devotional Build on the Rock: Hearing and obeying are intimately linked in the Word of God There is a base level of hearing and obeying There is a deeper level of hearing Conviction as the burden of God on our lives Conviction as the blueprint for our life Luke 6:46-49 (NLT) “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house right on the ground, without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.” If we want to build on the rock, we must consider and examine the realities of our life. The hard question must be asked and the inconvenient decisions must be made. Get access to all of our podcasts and podcast devotionals by becoming a Patreon supporter here.

It’s a place and time of fear. It’s yelling to be heard because you can’t tell if anyone is listening. It’s a decline […] The post The Growing Darkness appeared first on JB Shreve.
