This one's a little different. It's part of a series of episodes I'm doing in collaboration with local rapper Ezoman's Creative Side Entertainment for this year's 'Future of M"you"sic' competition, which is a five-month long showcase of up-and-coming local artists at the Limelight
Here's the first episode, which is similar to my old Quick Hits format (remember that?), and it features Ezoman giving some background on the event, plus three of the artists participating in the first stage of the competition on May 25: Eagle Owl, TommyPhyll and Lil Yardii.

One of Winnipeg's most successful musical exports to the world is celebrating a milestone.
On this episode, I talked to Sammy Kohn (drums) and Daniel Greaves (vocals) of The Watchmen about the super-deluxe reissue for the 25th anniversary of their landmark 'Silent Radar' LP.
We got into the background of the deluxe edition's 46(!) tracks, the staying power of the band's songs from that era, the CD's pioneering -- for 1998 -- enhanced/online features, and much more.

From the Vault: The Watchmen (2014)
Here's a throwback episode -- it's a re-release of one of the "lost" podcasts from 2014 -- an early Witchpolice interview that didn't get added to the current podcast feed.
This one was originally released as episode #77 (the show wasn't even into triple-digits yet!) and featured a phone interview with Sammy Kohn, drummer of iconic Winnipeg rockers The Watchmen.
I hope you dig it. It's in the show's old format, so if you're new to Witchpolice Radio, you're better off listening to a 2023 episode, but if you're looking for a fun throwback, here we are. No apologies for audio quality.

Here's one more throwback (the last one for a while) -- a re-release of one of the "lost" podcasts from 2014 -- an early Witchpolice recording that didn't get added to the current podcast feed.
This one was originally released as #80 in June of that year, and features an in-studio interview and performance by local garage rockers The Zags (later to become The Zorgs), as well as a special call-in guest: Neil Osborne of iconic Canadian rockers 54-40!

This one was originally released as #73, featuring Matt and Patrick of Montreal ska legends The Planet Smashers as our guests. Ignore what I say in the intro: this was ONE of our early attempts at interviewing an artist from out of town, but not the very first.

In memoriam: Chris Jacques
As many of you know, especially those of you here in Winnipeg, Dub Ditch Picnic Records' Chris Jacques died last week. Chris meant an awful lot to the community, and was a good friend and inspiration to so many people in the local music scene -- going back decades.

In memoriam: Justice Chester of Daphne Bleue (2020 episode)
Very sad to hear about the passing of Justice Chester from Daphne Bleue. He was on an episode of the podcast with his bandmate Brandon in early 2020, just before the pandemic. You can hear it here in its entirety.
I didn't know him beyond this conversation and a small handful of social media interactions, but my heart goes out to his family, friends and bandmates.
I've re-released this episode so it's at the top of the feed and people can get another opportunity to hear him and his band without having to dig through the archives.
