Burlesque, in its many forms, has been popular for a long time, not just since the 20s and 30s like you probably know, but all the way back into the 1800s. In the 90s, there was a burlesque revival and it has been going strong ever since.
My guest today is a burlesque dancer, yes. But if you’re not super caught up on the LA burlesque scene, you may have also seen him as Glitter Fantasy, Cosmopolitan’s first ever Unicorn Correspondent. Or leading a barre class at Equinox. You may have even seen him presiding over the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval as the Queen of Carnaval in 2017. Today, we’ll talk with Jake about burlesque, drag, stripping and what can happen when you do a back handsprings in stilettos.
