In this episode, Erik and Kris reflect on their 2021 education predictions to see what they got right and wrong. We'd like to give a big shout-out to our Audio Producer Chris Hoang who helped us develop this list for 2021. Our co-hosts also revised the forecast list for 2022.

2022 Forecast

  1. More EdTech Unicorns.
  2. Technology exposes socioeconomic fragility.
  3. Big Brother and academic integrity continue to be a problem
  4. Increase in digital (particularly OER) textbooks that include multimedia. Live updating of books or “living books.”
  5. More pressure for instructors to develop their own material (OER) with minimal financial support.
  6. Alternative accreditations grow in popularity.
  7. Institutional closures, or at the very least a shrinking in institutional size.
