EP4: SILENT ASSASSIN: Muay Thai champion Anisha Shetty on never throwing in the towel
Play • 41 min

Can you win a boxing match with a dislocated shoulder? Our guest, Anisha Shetty, a two-time UAE Muay Thai Champion and three-time National Muay Thai champion for India, can and did!

The 26-year-old athlete with an unwavering dream of making Muay Thai a household name in the UAE went against her family’s wishes to pursue a career in mechanical engineering and learnt everything there is to know about the sport first in India and then in Thailand before moving to the UAE to become a coach.

Anisha is ready to conquer the UAE’s professional Muay Thai scene, but also wants to share her knowledge and techniques with others and make the sport less intimidating, especially for women.

An athlete on a mission, Anisha tells us about “not throwing in the towel” when faced by challenges and lessons learnt along the way, her mission to build this as an after-school activity for children and the goal to become the queen of the 50s weight categories in the championship.
