#20 Overwhelmed Part 2
I guess we're doing it like this. *shrug*
Another mini-series from Wes and I. Not as deep as the heartbreak saga but I'm hoping you all can relate to what we've been talking about. Being overwhelmed is something crazy big and until recently, I didn't know it had a name just like other anxieties, it seems easier to tackle them when you give them a name and talk about it, releasing that energy into the world.
Anyway, enjoy, and hopefully you appreciate what we're talking about. If not, skip ahead and check out the Spin of the week. This week we're talking about one of our favorite bands, The Hold Steady, their album Boys And Girls In America recently turned 15 years old and holy cow, that still feels crazy to me. It's an excellent record and I think it's still relatable at any part of your life, even if just for the nostalgia of our youth.

#19 Overwhelmed
We're bringing it back to the feels!
This short conversation was really the warm up of episode #18 but it was too good not to air... and, sorry, because of this there isn't a spin of the week.

#18 Heartbreak Part 3.5 Top 5 heartbreak songs
We just couldn't stay away from our favorite topic... heartbreak. Back when Wes and I put that series together we had no idea how it'd end up. In our eyes, it turned out great. So great, that I don't wanna stop but I will, after this episode... Top 5 heartbreak songs! We each picked 5 songs that we consider heartbreaking and go back and forth about what they mean to us and what the lyrics could represent.
But, before we get to the heartbreak songs Wes and I talk about live shows, because, well, they're back!! It's something we both have been looking forward to during the pandemic, however, we've had some different experiences at the shows we've attended. We took some time to unpack those feelings and hope you can relate.

#16 Heartbreak Part 3
Welcome back to our attempt at a three part series on heartbreak.
This week, we try picking up where we left off after our last episode. However, that episode was recorded six months ago and as you can imagine, a lot has changed since then. So, with that said, this episode is a bit different, like, it feels a bit forced at first because I'm attempting to bring the mood back to where you, as the listeners last heard us which is honestly a bit dark when, in reality, I'm an entirely different person than I was back then.

#15 Heartbreak part 2
Welcome to part two of our three part series on heartbreak.
If you haven't yet, listen to part one, or, you know, don't... you do you.
This was recorded in March of 2021. In this episode we continue our conversation about heartbreak, mostly because I was in a place where I needed to and partly because we both wanted to talk about it considering we hadn't really talked since that last recording. We both also wanted to talk about our spins of the week too.. which we actually get to this time.
Another episode full of raw emotion and feelings. It's a tribute to the friendship Wes and I have and I hope it speaks to the fact that men can be vulnerable and have real, honest conversations with one another. I hope you enjoy it and that you take something away from listening to our journey, but if neither of those happen, well, I really hope you like our music choices.
Wes picked Respect the Architect by Blueprint which is an amazing hip-hop album and I chose to talk about My Mind Makes Noises by Pale Waves, a UK pop band that writes lyrics that sad bastards like me connect with. Cheers!

#14 Heartbreak Part 1
This is part one of a three part series on heartbreak.
This first part was recorded in February of 2021 after I experienced a rough breakup. I chose to break the news to Wes during a recording session, hoping to spawn a conversation about heartbreak and also with the hopes of helping myself process what I was going through. We spent a lot of time talking about it, so much that we didn't have time to do our spins of the week, those will be in part two. I promise.
Check it out, this episode is classically us, it's raw and full of feelings and friendship. I'm hoping that you take away something from our conversation. If not, I just hope you laugh when we do.

#12 Always leave the Mic on
This weeks episode is the product of some strange times. Both Wes and I have been riding some of the most wild emotional roller-coasters of our lives in the past few months. Our rides aren't over by any means, as they're totally individual experiences, however, in this episode we share some insight on how we've dealt with those rides and shared the things we've learned along the way.

#11 Fitness Episode
This week Mac and I jump into an impromptu 'Best Of" albums around fitness. We had an idea that our Spin of The Week would be about what we love running to and then decided to just to do an all out Top-5 style episode around some of our favorite albums to listen to while working out. We go all over the place with this one and it really shows just how varied our music tastes are.

#10 A relationship like no other
This week, we have our first guest!! Bracen, Wes' 11 year old son joins us to talk about his first vinyl purchase and to crack jokes at his dad for like 40 minutes, it's probably gonna go down as one our of best episodes of all time. The kid's hilarious and extremely sharp. In all honestly, he really wanted to hang out with us while we recorded an episode and we thought it would be super fun to have him on the show as our first guest.
We only have one spin of the week and it's Invisible People by Chicano Batman. Take a wild guess as to why an 11 year old picked out this record, hmm, or just listen and he'll tell you!
Anyway, going into this, we didn't expect to make it through the first episode and yet we've managed to push out ten of these things!! We're super happy to be doing this podcast and look forward to so many more episodes.

#9 We cut out the bs
This week we go straight to our Spin of the Week portion of the show. Wes is obsessed with Spirit World Field Guide by Aesop Rock and he's damn right to be obsessed with the dope lyrics and killer beats of this album. Me, however, I'm still stuck on my favorite sad bastard album of 2020, Brian Fallons Local Honey, yeah, I know I tried talking about it on episode #7 but this time, I got Wes to listen to it and that meant I got to talk about it again!

In this weeks episode we attempt to talk about seasonal depression, which we both take very seriously but in classic PDV fashion, we take fourteen different turns into random tangets that bring us back to depression and how it affects us... in short, we get there, slowly.
Our spins this week are Miles Davis - Witches Brew B-Sides for Wes and Richard Edwards - I am El Escondido (The Soft Ache & The Moon Demo Recordings). If you listen long enough to hear these spins, you'll definitely relate and hopefully take something away from these records.

#7 We get vulnerable (what's new?)
In this episode we talk about our feelings during the global coronavirus pandemic commonly known as "COVID" and explore our individual experiences.
This was recorded in November of 2020, about a week after the Presidential election and honestly, this covid inspired sad bastard type of stuff is a common theme for us, so, we'll probably revisit it again. Our goal is for you to feel like part of the conversation between two normal dudes who get together on the regular to have a drink and talk about music and how they feel about whatever.
Our show always ends with a "Spin of the Week" segment where we talk about what record we're listening to and why we like it so much. This week, we're so busy talking nonsense that we just breeze over that part and I promise ya, we'll revisit those records with more feeling! :)

#6 BONUS Episode "Twisted Tea, Man"
We all know that the world we live in is pretty screwed up... In this episode we give our take on a fairly recent event in the United States... We talk about Twisted Tea and the wide spread video of a racist getting slammed in the face with a Twisted Tea can in a convenient store. If you haven't seen the video, google it, it's a sad yet beautiful story about a jerk who gets a deserving hit to the face.
Then, our Spin of the Week, where this time we actually listened to each others respective albums to hopefully bring the conversation to another level... and, well, getting on that next level.. is a work in progress.

#5 We get more gooder
Hey there! Thanks for checking out our podcast!
Recorded on November 3rd, 2020... in this episode we get back to where we left off after episode #4, you know, the episode where we got a little too lit and had to edit out our drunken arguments, yeah that one! We dial it back in and talk to each other about what happened that day and how silly we both felt afterward. We also discuss our love for mental health therapy and how that's helped us through anxiety and things like panic attacks and fear. Of course, being that this was recorded on election day in the U.S. we had to talk about that for a minute as well.
Our Spins this week are You And Someone Like You by The Worriers and Spades and Roses by Caroline Spence. #4 Back to business as usual
We strongly recommend that you drink along to this episode.
This episode is where we realize we shouldn't get wasted and record. I'm not gonna lie, we almost scrapped the whole thing but with the wonders of editing we came though with something worth listening to.
Just like episodes one and two, this conversation starts with "what're you drinking today?". Wes drinks Four Loko and I fumble through describing what "Bottled in Bond"* means for my Henry McKenna Bourbon. We flow into a conversation about expressing ourselves through our hobbies, like art, and how we use those things to distract ourselves from everyday stresses and overloads.

#3 A year in review gone a rye
We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming so that Rylan and Wes can talk about their favorite albums of 2020, both personally and in relation to the weird year we've all experienced. Although intended as a "year in review", the boys really just do what they do best and bullshit about whatever comes to mind... Realistically, it's the perfect episode for 2020, at first it doesn't quite make sense but then gets you thinking "what the fuck am I doing?"

In this weeks episode we go off the rails a little bit and hey, we think you'll like it. We discuss books, our favorite record store in Spokane, mental health and our extreme disgust for misogyny and the patriarchy... most of which are recurring themes, except books, we really didn't need to talk about books. Anyway, we also take a wild stab at when Niel Young's Harvest Moon was released (guess what, we were way off), talk about Record Store day releases in 2020 and introduce a new segment that won't last called "Rant of the week" where Rylan yells about why he doesn't like spotify, then comes back around to being okay with it.
