I recently launched a client podcast and the one network they had to make sure they got listed on was Breaker (https://www.breaker.audio/) . Breaker is not a household name in podcasting, but in the financial services space, there are a growing number of hosts and consumers who love this platform. I quickly reached out to figure out how to get this new show listed on their quickly and got a response from Jacob Tender, Community Manager for the community-built podcast consumption platform. Sure enough they have just launched a new tool to help you submit and claim your show on their platform. Big Changes Coming to Apple Podcasts
Tom Kelly and Mathew Passy break down some of the changes we heard this week following WWDC and an email from Apple Podcasts. Some of the major headlines.... Apple is killing iTunes and creating a separate podcast app. They are introducing machine learning search of the spoken content. (Credit Steve Goldstein of Amplifi Media) An email later that week revealed major category changes. We also hit upon.... Evo Terra's advice for podcasters in light of this news James Cridland's scathing rebuke of Apple Joel Sharpton's efforts to get more LGBTQ+ categories Lastly, we are going to make some changes to the Podcast Me Anything format. Podcast Consumer 2019 and Podcast Distribution
Tonight we recap and review the Podcast Consumer 2019 report from Triton Digital and Edison Research. As usual, the numbers continue to move in the right direction and the market for consumers is growing. There were some other really interesting numbers about how we listen to podcasts, why we listen to podcasts, how we discover podcasts, and what is holding people back. It's a very comprehensive report and presentation that we encourage you to check out. We also take a quick look at some stories out of the Podcast Business Journal about YouTube being the number 1 place for podcast consumption. Tom feels vindicated, Mathew still has his reservations.
