If you were able to Design the Perfect World...
Pretending to live in a perfect world is a key to fundamental change. By doing so, we set aside our conventions and preconceived notions. Pretending to live in a perfect reality opens the doors to perfect design. Such an ideal reality is, however, perfectly imperfect. It makes the glass ceiling of limiting beliefs visible that stands in the way of growth and transformation.

Many of the Perfect World Principles are ‘mind-expanding’. They appeal to unconscious, naive, even childlike-abil- ities to unleash creative potential. The key to this is ‘pretense’. After all, we are under no obligation to regard an exist- ing reality as an absolute fact. We can just create a new one.

A Little Positivity Goes A Long Way
A little positive goes a long way. Cliche right? But, it’s so so true.
-
Sometimes, it’s really hard to stay motivated and keep going. I get lazy and decide to take a nap instead of go to the gym, or I decide that it’s just too cold to walk outside. I get pickish late at night while watching Netflix, and I often snack a little more than I should. Sometimes, I feel like all my efforts are going to nothing, and I’ll never reach my goal. Then I remind myself: stay positive.

The bottom line is, a little positivity goes a long way. Not only will your positive act create ripples that affect those who are exposed to your message, but you will notice more positivity and optimism around you, further encouraging you to share and extend your ripple.

Ask shoppers what they want and you’ll find they want it all -- good quality products, wide selection, low prices -- and they want it all now. That is the reason that Amazon.com gives every other retailer fits because in the first of those three wants, Amazon pretty well beats all comers. On the last, instant gratification, Amazon still has a ways to go, though the time efficiency of Amazon at the front end when ordering often makes up for any lag in the back end for delivery, though its engineering and fulfillment departments are working overtime to figure out how to make near-instant delivery a reality.

Consumers are driving the demand for instant gratification, so much so that we are becoming an instant gratification society.

In consumers’ quest for “instant gratification” there are two components: the “Instant” now and the “Gratification” from pleasure and fulfillment achieved that leads to personal happiness. But human psychology programs us so that to get the later, i.e. our gratification, we have to give up the former, i.e. the instant. In other words, instant gratification isn’t so gratifying.

You in a rush is not my problem
When we're rushing, we are living in a state of resistance. It produces a state of consciousness that often comes about when we're feeling anxious. It's a lack of willingness to be in the present moment. Have you ever noticed how rushing implies a feeling of lack?

People often get stuck in the hurry cycle because they have a hard time saying no. When you accept more responsibilities than you can realistically handle, you'll almost certainly find yourself rushing to cram everything in.

I understand what it is to be busy. I am future oriented when it comes to setting and achieving life goals. I am as organized as the next person when it comes to planning ahead. I just can’t get on this rushing through the seasons bandwagon. I want to actually see and enjoy the changing fall colors, not miss it while I put up my Christmas lights.

Psychological studies have found that the best way to be happy is to enjoy the present. I am not going to waste my precious life by wishing time away, waiting for the weekend, the holiday or the next vacation. Anticipation is fun and exciting, but not if it causes us to lose sight of what is happening in our lives now.

It is a cliché- but maybe we should take time to smell the roses. And yes, mine are still blooming and you can see them because they are not hidden under pumpkins or, heaven forbid, snowmen.

Does Age make you Grumpy and Jaded?
Reach a certain age, and it’s almost expected that if you’re not, say, the sweet old granny happily baking strudel, you’re more than likely to become the cranky, cane-waving curmudgeon. No wonder the 1993 film Grumpy Old Men is getting retooled for a new generation, this time starring Eddie Murphy.

But the assumption that a grumpier outlook accompanies wrinkles and gray hair is simply wrong. “Older people tend to be happier than the general population,”. “So why do we have that stereotype? Because we’re an ageist society and we misunderstand older adults.”

It’s also possible that you’re not more grumpy, just more vocal. Certain natural changes that occur as we age, like impulse control, can make you more sharp-tongued than before, and more likely to say what is on your mind, for good or bad.

But if moodiness isn’t always an ailment, it can be a symptom. In general, experts say, when an older person becomes moodier than he used to be, there may be a good reason — and those close to him should pay attention.

There can be the struggles that getting older can present. Sometimes though in most cases it is we are wiser and see beyond the BS in the world more then others.

Have we Evolved to a Standstill?
I can assure you that the human race has confronted, and endured, darker times. But today it often feels as though the world is getting better and worse at the same time.

Compared to a generation ago, we have made gains in reducing extreme poverty, increasing access to education and curbing hunger. But sadly, democratic progress has stalled, and hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people are at risk from conflict, climate change and pandemic disease.
-
The most serious challenges are interrelated. A deteriorating climate will aggravate economic problems that will, in turn, generate new threats to security. Technology, if used wisely, can improve the lives of billions of people; if misused, it has the potential to destroy us all. That is why good governance is so important and why the antidemocratic trends we are witnessing are so disturbing.

We need Gamer Reviews
So, there’s a general understanding that reviews are important. However, I sometimes think people don’t grasp just how important they truly are. Year after year, there is more and more data demonstrating the importance of consumer behavior, positive reviews, social validation and more. For example, according to BrightLocal’s Local Consumer Review Survey, 91% of 18-34-year-old consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations.

From my experience, even in an industry such as professional services, poor reviews or a lack of reviews can be detrimental. We found that consumers expect businesses in this industry to have a minimum average Google rating of 3.84 across at least 20 reviews. This was compounded by a question we asked: “On a scale 1-10, if you narrowed down two professionals you liked, but one had much better reviews online, how much would that impact your final decision?" The average of all the responses was 7.931.

What is Gaslighting?
Gaslighting - an elaborate and insidious technique of deception and psychological manipulation, usually practiced by a single deceiver, or “gaslighter,” on a single victim over an extended period. Its effect is to gradually undermine the victim’s confidence in his own ability to distinguish truth from falsehood, right from wrong, or reality from appearance, thereby rendering him pathologically dependent on the gaslighter in his thinking or feelings.

As part of the process, the victim’s self-esteem is severely damaged, and he becomes additionally dependent on the gaslighter for emotional support and validation. In some cases the intended (and achieved) result is to rob the victim of his sanity. Peer Pressure has a New Name…
Peer pressure, or influence, comes in several forms, and these types of peer pressure can have a tremendous impact on a young person’s behavior. Research shows the most impressionable age for peer influence seems to be the middle school years. This is when a child is forming new friendships and choosing an identity among those friends.

It is also the most common age for kids to start experimenting with alcohol, drugs, sexual activity and other risky behaviors. Very often, the drive to engage in this kind of behavior is a result of negative peer pressure. Adolescents who have larger circles of friends appear to be less influenced by the suggestions or actions of their peers, but the pressure to conform is very real at this age.

Growing up I was a very shy little guy. I was so shy that I rarely put myself out there in situations that I was unfamiliar with and never asked other people for favors unless I was either in desperate need or very familiar with the other person.

Throughout our lives we continually develop and construct an image of ourselves based on our interaction with the world around us and by reflecting on our experiences and how we feel. Why do we take Technology for Granted?
My grandparents were born into what has been called the “greatest generation,” when people appreciated the little things in a period full of war and hardship.

My parents are the product of that generation, the “baby boomers,” who lived through a time when people celebrated their newfound prosperity and rallied for rights and change. So, what does that make us? My Generation which is GenX grew up in an amazing time BUT my concern is the current generation from the 90s onwards that are consumed and take technology for granted.

And it is this sense of entitlement to technology or an easy way of doing things that is going to threaten our ability to function as human beings. What Causes Déjà Vu?
Does this all feel a little familiar? Called déjà vu, that sensation may be your brain correcting its own errors. Déjà vu means “already seen” in French, a term possibly coined by French philosopher Émile Boirac in a letter to the editor of Revue Philosophique de la France et de l'Étranger in 1876. Boirac speculated that perhaps residues of long-forgotten perceptions triggered the feeling. There is now some laboratory evidence that vague similarities between one scene and another can indeed lead to déjà vu.

In a 2009 study, some researchers found that viewing sneakily similar scenes was more likely to cause feelings of déjà vu than viewing dissimilar scenes—suggesting that perhaps there is some environmental trigger for the brain to call out, “Hey, I recognize that!” even when it’s never seen the scene before.

The Illusion of Perception
Most of the time, the story our brains generate matches the real, physical world — but not always. Our brains also unconsciously bend our perception of reality to meet our desires or expectations. And they fill in gaps using our past experiences.

Perception science, for me, provokes a similar question. If the science tells us our brains are making up a “story” about reality, shouldn’t we be curious about, and even seek out the answers to, how that reality might be wrong?

It’s not about doubting everything that comes through our senses. It’s about looking for our blind spots, with the goal of becoming better thinkers. It can also help with empathy. When other people misperceive reality, we may not agree with their interpretation, but we can understand where it comes from.

It's human nature to take things for granted when they're present and value them when they're gone. ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER. I can never seem to understand that; we all know better yet we all seem to take everything for granted until it's too late - then we start wishing we had done otherwise.

To find time for yourself means to set time aside consciously. This time should be meant for you and you alone.

A few nights ago, Sophie and I had some new friends over to play games. They’re younger than us but also our contemporaries in the sense that they’re a married couple with jobs. We had a great time, but things got a little weird when we started talking about where we were on September 11, 2001. I was starting my second year at my first post-college job; they were in fifth grade.

As the years go by, technology appears to advance faster and faster to the point where it almost seems futuristic. More and more, people tend to depend on technology to the point where it's dangerously high. As humans in today's time, we rely too much on technology, and in the end, it damages our relationships, mental health, and opportunities for success.

Why do some think laws don’t apply to them?
The 1992 movie “My Cousin Vinnie” has been described as one of the greatest legal movies of all time, not because of the acting (although Marisa Tomei did win an Academy Award for best actress in a supporting role), or the clothing choices of Vinny Gambini (played by Joe Pesci). In life, there will always be haters. The haters spend their time tearing all the creators down and judging everything others do. They have no original ideas themselves so they criticize the people that do. And those of them that do have original ideas, are too fearful to act on them, so they never go after what they really want.

When we talk about modern manners, we seem to always wax nostalgic about how folks were more polite "back in the day." It's unclear where that means things were better in the 1870s, the 1950s, or just the era before smart phones.

Why don’t all social media platforms have a dislike button?
The dislike button has been there on various platforms like YouTube, 9Gag, and Reddit for a long time. Bringing it to mainstream social media like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram could create problems like targeted dislike campaigns, raids, and introduce new ways of bullying possibly. We can get the button with some terms and conditions attached to it. It should only be for users above 18 years of age; could be introduced as a ‘disagree’ button for politically active accounts, or crossed off altogether.
What is I came across multiple posts I just simply disagreed with? Do I comment on it and tell the person that it is misinformation? They’d simply delete the comment before anyone sees it.
