Happy Military Appreciation Month! To celebrate, we're releasing our second BONUS episode featuring Ahmad Shah Sa’ed and (Jenny Lynne's husband) Matthew Stroup!

Ahmad Shah and Matthew share the early stages of their working relationship in Afghanistan, which eventually transitioned to a familial bond when Ahmad Shah came to the U.S. Today, Ahmad Shah reflects on the costs and unique opportunity to have worked with the U.S., while Matthew reflects on sound advice from a former Marine from Vietnam to be the best example of what it means to be an American in another country.

Ahmad Shah Sa’ed was born in Afghanistan and served as an interpreter for U.S. and coalition forces through Mission Essential Personnel. He is a father of one, a proud husband, and an Afghan-American. He loves to travel the world and doesn’t allow fear to overcome his desire for a free life for him and his family.

Matthew Stroup is a prior-enlisted Naval officer with more than 14 years in service. He served as part of Provincial Reconstruction Team Farah from 2012-2013. The views expressed in this interview are based on his experience, and do not reflect the official policy or position of the U.S. Navy, the Department of Defense, or the U.S. Government.
