"Now hear this. Now hear this. On this week's episode of Kirking Off we are introduced to a leather-gloved Janeway who appears to be a lot more ruthless than the Janeway we all know. Come to find out this iteration of Janeway and the Voyager crew is just an interpretation of history, and we are 700 years in the future watching a museum presentation done by a Kyrian historian named Quarren. Quarren believes, based on very thin evidence, that Janeway and the Voyager crew were mass murderers who used the conflict between the Kyrians and Vaskans for their own gain. This assumption is challenged when The Doctor is reactivated and tells Quarren about the Janeway that we all know to be good. This idea of revisionist history prompts a lot of great discussion from the lads. They discuss history as presented as fact, history as presented from a bias point of view, history as something that informs us and the real possibility that it is based on lies, misinformation, or simple incompetence. The lads get into historical figures and how they are celebrated or maligned based on what people want to focus on. They discuss the concept of heroes and what they really may look like if examined closely. Dean talks comedians and how we are all dumb, Brian brings up children's history versus adult history, and Nathan goes full They Might Be Giants. We present to you, "Living Witness", from Star Trek: Voyager."
