047: The Trojan Borg Conundrum (TNG "I, Borg")
Play • 1 hr 33 min

"Now hear this. Now hear this. On this week's episode of Kirking Off we liken Geordi to King Moonracer from Rudolph as he seems to befriend robots, holograms, and other misfits more than people of flesh and blood. The reason: An away team brings a stranded Borg onto the Enterprise, and in classic TNG-era Star Trek fashion, Picard's trusty crew care for and eventually name this wayward Borg that Dr. Crusher has described as a "lost and lonely boy." Worf wants to murder the Borg and make it appear like an accident, and Picard wants to load him with a virus and send him back to the collective - effectively ending the Borg threat. The rub: is it ethical and moral to utilize this Boy'g as a Trojan Horse when he starts to express misgivings about life as a Borg? Spoiler: Nathan and Dean certainly think so, because they are team human. The discussion moves from Space Whoopi and her claim that the Borg aren't racist to the idea of equality from the Borg perspective. We present to you, "I, Borg", from Star Trek: The Next Generation."
