36 Reflections of an Introvert

Quotes of the day:

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ~ Benjamin Franklin

“Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

“If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” ~ George Orwell

“What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy?” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

True liberty is one where each person gets to decide his or her own path. They don’t have to deal with other people ruling over them.

At a recent event I attended, hosted by Nicole Sauce, Living Free in Tennessee, I learned a few things about myself that I hope can help you as well.

Being an introvert, I find it hard to put myself out there when I’m around large groups of people I don’t know. As I found a bit of alone time to recharge my batteries, I found myself thinking about how, while introverts like me need time alone to rest and recharge, other people need to be around lots of people in order to charge up their batteries.

But, whether we need people to recharge or not, we still need a community of like-minded people to help us and lift us up when we’re down, and who we can pour ourselves into as well. We need that, whether we want to need it or not. Community is vital to thriving.

As you think about life, consider why it is you react the way you do in different situations, and what the factors are leading up to that reaction.

In the future of this show, I want to start to incorporate more about how to prepare for when the tough times come our way, and how to create a life that’s resilient against those tough times.
