In this episode we chat with Sirena Rana, owner of Trails Inspire. 054 - Mountain biking is surfing the earth... a tribute to Bike Monk, Craig Randall, R.I.P. (Mark Flint, Jon Shouse, & Steve Roach)
Have you ever met a person whose spirit leaves an indelible mark on your soul? A man with a self-actualized nature, humbleness, and kindness that garners respect from all that meet him? Craig Randall, fondly remembered as the Bike Monk, was that person for Tucson's mountain biking community. One of the original trailblazers, he pedaled his way into our hearts with his shop Lone Cactus, and through his integral work on the trails we ride (like Fantasy Island). His infectious love for mountain biking radiates through the stories we share, as we honor his legacy and the immense impact he had on our community.
This episode is dedicated to the memory of Bike Monk. Thank you Craig, for all you did for our community. You will be missed. Rest In Peace.

Turns out, growing up in a skatepark lays the foundation for unbelievable talent on gravity fed trails.
This week’s guests (Skander Anderson & Grayson Festerling) are both 14 years old. They grew up spending countless hours riding and competing on freestyle scooters at skateparks throughout the country. Today, they are “retired” from freestyle scooter competitions and both pursue other passions like weightlifting and basketball.
However, if you put these boys on capable mountain bikes, with lift assisted, gravity fed, flow and jump lines, you learn very quickly that “air awareness is air awareness”, regardless of the sport. Just don’t ask them to pedal, ain’t nobody got time for that…

039 – There are no benchwarmers on the Vail (AZ) School Mountain Bike Team. (Scott Wraith w/ Shelby & Riley)
In this episode, we hear from Scott Wraith (aka Scotty Van Halen), coach of the Vail Composite Mountain Bike Team, and his daughters/team riders, Shelby and Riley. They discuss the team's history, its mission, and the benefits of participating in competitive mountain biking.
The Vail Composite Mountain Bike Team, a member of the Arizona Cycling Association (ACA), was started 10 years ago by Ben “Bubbles” Chandler with one student and has since grown to include over 50 middle school thru high school age riders from the Vail, AZ area. Demonstrating a culture of inclusivity, Vail Composite welcomes boys and girls of all skill levels with a focus on personal goals and teaching community and social responsibility. The program is successful largely because of the total group effort consisting of many parents and volunteers. The Team’s Booster Club recently applied for their 501(c)(3) to help subsidize race fees where needed.

038 - Providing transformative experiences. The Arizona Trail. ~800 miles from Mexico to Utah. (Matt Nelson)
This week the MCP is joined by guest host Mike Mucker and features special guest Matt Nelson, Executive Director of the Arizona Trail Association (ATA). The ATA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect, maintain, enhance, promote and sustain the Arizona Trail as a unique encounter with the natural environment.
The Arizona Trial is 1 of 11 officially designated ‘National Scenic Trails’ in the US. It spans ~800 miles, South to North, across Arizona, from Mexico to Utah. The trail is supported by 100’s of ambassadors and stewards, 1000’s of volunteers, and 10’s of 1000’s of users each year. It is a multi-use trail frequented by mountain bikers, hikers, and equestrians. It offers, hands down, some of the most spectacular mountain biking in the Southwest United States and should, without a doubt, be on your bucket list to ride. 010 - Travel through Mexico, on a public bus, for a bike contest? (Chris Miracle)
Chris Miracle – (aka “Miracle”) joins Magellan and Hype Man for a humorous and interesting discussion of an OG BMX dirt jumping legend and his recent shift into racing Enduro MTB. As you would have guessed, Josh and Mike can’t even get thru a Dad Joke correctly, but Josh totally redeems himself with the knowledge of Saint Bridget who turns bathwater to beer.
Inspired by the epic 1986 BMX movie, Rad, Miracle is an uber rad dude who quit team sports as a youngster in favor of becoming a BMX “outcast”. Miracle takes us down memory lane that involves him even taking the Crucero bus to do shows and competitions in Mexico. Fast forward to now, going from punk rock BMX to professional desk jockey, Chris races MBAA Enduro as a weekend warrior. Connected with all the big-name riders from southern Arizona, when you listen to the show, you will understand why Miracle is a beloved name in the sport.
