[EP13] How To Have The Fortitude To Stand By What You Believe In, Risking It All And Gaining Everything
This episode is the most meaningful episode to date that has been recorded as it is with my very own flesh and blood, my brother Matt Prince. Matt joined the Navy straight out of University, a few years later the Army and was deployed to Afghanistan for 6 months. He later decided that the Police force would keep him at home more close to his Family and that was the best choice. This episode unfolds like a story as Matt brings us into his journey through serving for 20+ years and eventually having an awakening changing his outlook on his work and his life completely. [EP11] The Importance Of Mental Health And How We Can All Make Change When We Support Each Other | Friends of Felix
Austin Penrose & Mahlon Head have started a brand surrounding mental health initially called “Happy Dude” and through some entrepreneurial learnings have now had a name shift and called “Friends of Felix”. These two friends bonded in a time of need when going through some of their own personal experience with mental health challenges and through these adversities knew there must be others out there like them that could use the support. Jake Heilbrunn is wise beyond his years. In this episode we talk about our personal journey’s/challenges with Lyme disease and the many lessons we have learned along the way (Including how to do a coffee enema, lol. Yes, it is what you think it is). How a chronic illness can really make you stop and look at the “why’s” and observe every part of it, eventually realizing the gifts even if they are hard to see at first. Jake brings a lightness to life even through the tough parts and is an inspiring individual. We discuss how when he went into his first year in college that he knew something just wasn’t right and he had to make a change which led to an adventure through south/central America and eventually to Jake giving talks about it all (TedX) and even writing a book. This is a heartfelt episode about two men at slightly different stages in life who were connected by a “dis-ease” and how others can learn from the wisdom this brought them.
