Dr. Serhy Yekelchyk is a professor of European history with expertise in Ukraine, Russia and the history of the Soviet Union at the University of Victoria. Yekelchyk was born in Kyiv and came to Canada in 1995 to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of Alberta.
His research interests include the social and political history of the Stalin period as well as the formation of a modern Ukrainian nation from the mid-19th century to the present.
