“Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. *2 *“Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
*3 *As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
*4 *Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. *5 *For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. *6 *You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. *7 *Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. *8 *All these are the beginning of birth pains.
*9 *“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. *10 *At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, *11 *and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. *12 *Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, *13 *but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. *14 *And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

*15 *Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. *16 *How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
*17 *And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”

*19 *And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. *20 *But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”
*21 *Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. *22 *When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. *23 *Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”
2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4 Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: 5 “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life. 6 And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.
7 “‘This is the Lord’s sign to you that the Lord will do what he has promised: 8 I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.’” So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had gone down.

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. *4 *But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, *5 *he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, *6 *whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, *7 *so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. *8 *This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
*9 *But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. *10 *Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. *11 *You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.

Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. *3 *I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. *4 *Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. *5 *No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. *6 *Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

*2 *These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; *3 *Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; *4 *Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
*5 *These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. *6 *Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. *7 *As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ *8 *Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. *Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. *2 *There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. *3 *So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”
*4 *When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”
And Moses said, “Here I am.”
