Overcoming Adversity with Jason Schechterle
Jason Schechterle's career choice as a patrol officer had serious risks, but he never thought he’d experience what occurred to him one night in 2001. Jason took an emergency call that would forever change his life. While he was on his way trying to clear an intersection, a taxi cab travelling over 100mph crashed into the rear of his patrol car. Upon impact, his car burst into flames while he was still trapped inside causing severe burns over 40% of his body and forever changed his physical identity.
Jason’s story is a combination of heroism, transformation, and a series of miracles that lead up to saving his life. Jason shares his story of survival and how he overcame one of the most traumatic events he’d ever experience. Today he's a motivational speaker and shares the account of his story in the book ‘Burning Shield: The Jason Schechterle Story.’ With great wisdom on changing perspective and attitude, Jason reflects on facing adversity and shares how we can learn from unfortunate events to improve our own human experience.

Dave & Amanda Repsher: Flight for Life Nurse Career Becomes a Fight for Life
Imagine landing the career of your dreams, but then having it catastrophically change your life. Dave Repsher, an Ametros Member, landed a career as a flight nurse and it was everything he had dreamt it would be. But one day during a public relations event, as Dave was sitting in the rear seat of a Flight for Life helicopter, he suffered from a catastrophic collision that left him disfigured and with burns over 90% of his body.
Throughout his ongoing recovery, Dave hasn’t faced it alone. His wife Amanda, who also has a medical background, has been by Dave’s side every step of the way. In this episode, Dave and Amanda discuss the day of the accident and his medical journey up to current day. Amanda shares her experience as a wife and caregiver and explains what it was like knowing what Dave was experiencing in the hospital from a medical perspective. Life After a Traumatic Brain Injury: Lauren & Colleen Murphy
As a parent, you want nothing more than to see your children grow up to become happy, healthy, and successful people. But what if life has different plans, and you get a call that forever changes the course of your life? In 2013, Colleen Murphy received news no mother wants to hear—her daughter Lauren, now an Ametros member, suffered a severe brain injury after a tragic accident. The accident left her with a small chance for survival. In this episode, Colleen shares her family’s story of hope and resilience as they joined together to support Lauren with navigating life after a traumatic brain injury.
As a coping mechanism to stay strong during her daughter’s fight for survival, Colleen wrote down her thoughts to not lose hope.
