Nethone Darknet Summary | September 2021 | Card Not Present Fraud
Play • 7 min

Welcome to Nethone's Darknet Summary! In last month’s episode, we took a look at carding, a form of credit card fraud. Customer card details are stolen and used by cybercriminals to buy expensive goods which are then resold online for profit. For September’s summary, we continue our analysis, specifically 'card not present' fraud, by looking into card validity testing methods and even the musical side of fraud expressed through hacker rap

First up, we look at the work of analysts at American cybercrime agency
Gemini Advisory who uncovered novel methods for testing card validity using payment processes in place for non-profit organisations. Targets have included the Red Cross and the WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Listen to our podcast to find out more as Intelligence Specialist Michał Barbaś helps summarise the latest Darknet news.

Nethone.com is a fintech company that fights online transaction fraud using its proprietary software solution. In order to keep clients safe, we keep track of what’s happening in the darknet, the sometimes-murky underbelly of the web, where fraudsters exchange the tools and knowledge to plan their criminal activities. That’s why we’ve created this podcast, to share with you what our experts have found during their investigations! This and all our findings can be found on our blog.
