The powerful God movement at Asbury University- Pastor Doug Hankins was there.
God is up to something among Generation Z. Young people at Asbury University and dozens of other college campuses across the country are experiencing a movement of love and connection with Jesus that has grabbed the attention of people around the world. Not unlike the Jesus movement of the 60s and 70s a youth revival seems to have taken shape.
On this episode of Amazing Greats, Pastor Doug Hankins a theological revival historian, shares his unique perspective on this awakening by taking us on a day trip to Asbury in the midst of the recent revival. An event that grew organically out of a typical Chapel service on the Morning of February 8th 2023. An event that lasted over 300 hours and 16 days. It wasn't programmed or planned, it was not well produced and slick, there were no celebrity singers or guest speakers. It was a raw outpouring of God's grace where the X Factor was clearly the presence of Jesus.
If you are as intrigued by what's going on, as I am, you will find this conversation really powerful and hopeful.

God on the move- ask Wayne Pederson
It was one year ago that we had the opportunity to hear the story of broadcaster and Christian , Wayne Pederson. As a young disc jockey he was in love with the radio business, but at one point was willing to give up this passion for a more powerful force in his life: his commitment to Jesus. The God nod was....do both. That's when he launched a career of using AM, FM, Shortwave and the internet to bring God's word to some of the most isolated and least Christian parts of the world.
In this episode Wayne shares his most challenging life chapter, 2022. A year he faced critical health challenges and experienced God's great miracles. Please listen to the amazing events as they unfolded. Good is good.

The creator of K-Love radio - Bob Anthony
A new music industry blossomed when radio stations began giving Christian Music artists a platform to reach millions nationwide. In a world where Christian radio was dominated by pay-for-play teaching and preaching programs one guy had a new idea. His name is Bob Anthony. You'll hear how a rock and roll Top 40 DJ helped ignite an all new way to share the Gospel. He put the first high energy, lively and engaging music driven radio station on the air in the late 70's that proved successful in building a new kind of Christian radio audience. Young contemporary artists emerged and began to write a new kind of worship music, many of which took their origins from the book of Psalms or other scripture and gave them a good beat, catchy melody and created hit music that glorified God. That was the start of what has become the worlds largest Christian radio network, K-LOVE, that reaches 7 million people every week with positive and encouraging music in a presentation that is not unlike what Top 40 stations have been doing for years.

Skeptic to believer- Ross Shafer
Like many of us, as a believer, Ross Shafer was a late bloomer. Like many of us, he forged his way through most of his life thinking he was in complete control. It was only later he realized that he was not really in control at all.
In this episode you'll hear the amazing cinderella story of a guy who started with a stereo/pet shop business out of college and in just a few short years ended up as the host to millions on a network late night talk show. Much of his success he'd chalked up to "luck" and his hard work. You'll hear how in retrospect there were "God moments" along the way that were clearly gifts.
It was author Lee Strobel and pastor Rick Warren who had an impact on Ross's conversion and he'll share how each played an important role.

That question was a turn around moment for Jason as he recognized for the first time the importance of "Blooming where you are planted" wherever that might be. ESPN was fertile ground for him to bloom. Living his faith in a secular world.

Surrendering to God- All Star shortstop Craig Reynolds
He was the first shortstop drafted for the all new Mariners team in 1977...and played for the American League All Star team that year. You'll hear his story about the challenging time in Seattle when he was ready to give it all up.
Craig Reynolds started his love of baseball as a kid, and was drafted right out of high school.
He was born into a Christian home and has spent a life time doing his best to live out his Christian values during his 14 years in major league baseball and then well beyond as a teaching pastor at one of Houston's largest churches.
Pastor Craig shares how he was able to transition from the "plate" to the "pulpit" and how relationships were and are a cornerstone to his spiritual life. We take a deep dive into the amazing life of this energized man of God in this episode of *AMAZING GREATS*.

World Series team to TEAM JESUS - Doug Flynn
I say this a lot. But... I'll say it again. This is one of my favorite conversations. Meet legendary major league baseball player, Doug Flynn. He was team mates with Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Ken Griffey and the rest of the Great 8 from the Cincinnati Reds world series winning 1975 and 76 team . He'll share the excitement of those years, the trauma of baseball trades, the power of a 40 year marriage and the challenges of cancer.
Doug shares the heart breaking story of his sister's disappearance, his life changing Christian journey with "Professional Athletes Outreach" and how he went from an upbringing in the Baptist church to an awesome relationship with Jesus. As he says, you can only trick people into believing you're a Christian for so long. Then it becomes real.
This episode is overflowing with joy, and laughter along with life long lessons learned.
