The United States has more guns than people. 393 million guns to 326 million people. Elijah Elliott and Rylan Schlepp interviewed two undergraduates at MSU and PSU to discuss their experiences and feelings about guns on campus and the equity regarding guns on campuses. The first interviewee Jaren Perkins shares his experience here at Montana State and Montana as a whole while our Portland State interview Sidney O'billovich shares her experience in a completely different state and University in Oregon.

Don't Pet the Bears: Should MSU Require Students to Take a Wilderness Safety Course?
Moose attacks and Avalanches. Zachary Lovering and Houston Ostrom propose a mandatory wilderness and skiing safety class at MSU, to help include and protect all students in outdoor recreation. Using personal experience, student interviewees, and professional sources, the group discusses safety using several embarrassing local examples of outdoor negligence. In "Don't Pet the Bears," the outdoor-lovers look into the equity of requiring another course for incoming MSU students.

Trappin' with the Wolf Pack
It's an ethical dilemma, wolf trapping. Jacob Bradley and Lucas Cote look at both sides of the trapping argument. Trapping is used for numerous reasons such as to protect livestock and acquire wolf pelts, but has come under question on the ethics of this practice. Different types of traps are used including the ‘Koro’ and ‘Alaskan’ style traps which are generally the most popular. These traps are notorious for causing severe injuries but not humanely killing the animal, sometimes leaving them to suffer for days. The podcasters also examine humane alternatives to these traps, which are being implemented to protect livestock.

It seems like every one of us students on Montana State's campus has had or knows someone who has experienced a crazy encounter on campus. Whether that's walking alone at night with someone following, or seeing a wild animal on campus, it's scary. I haven't had an encounter myself but I know fellow students who have. On this episode, "The Button That We Can Not Push" we will hear from a campus-police lieutenant and their explanation on why we no longer have a blue light system, and a freshman at MSU who will speak on one of their frightening experiences on campus. We explore what other safety tools have become available to students instead the blue-light system and a shocking change to the Montana State website.
