FPL 22/23 Strategy | BPS 3.0 (Bonus Points System)
It's flagship pod time as we go deep again in to the FPL Bonus Points System, looking at those teams that suck bonus in, as well as those that we may need to rethink about owning.
Does a player need in game actions in order to be part of the bonus conversation or can their involvement (baseline) project them to the heights needed to get that extra point. This is particularly important in defenders/keepers as they compete for many of the same "Actions".

Makes for good content though :)

FPL GW31: The Early Take: All To Play For
FPL GW31 is mid-way through or most of the way through with just a couple of fixtures remaining. With what has happened so far this week it is clear it is all to play for in the Premier League and with 7 weeks still to play there are plenty of FPL points up for grabs.
The main focus of this week is the Gameweek Review, GW32 is a standard gameweek (what's that...) and so more conversation about GW33 and beyond will be covered next week.
Fantasy Football Fest is on the 22nd April and we have 2 tickets to give away, if you want to go to be in the draw you need to comment either below our Youtube video or on our Twitter post with the words "I want a ticket".

We look at how best to finish strong with a focus on the big 6 teams and those with upcoming interesting doubles. Navigating the final GW's of the season can make the difference between dreaming or achieving that target rank finish, or winning that mini league!!
We look at just how good the good teams are, and how bad the bad have through primarily xG and xGC data as well as referencing back to actual goals and clean sheets. How the top teams have managed rotation in the past as a guide to how they may approach this season.
It's a good deep dive that answers the right questions, and not just the easy spoon fed answers some people want to hear.

It's not often we have such polarising differences between good GW's and bad GW's but we were certainly (or at least so far) hit with one this week.
Giving you the gameweek review from both ends of the scale and reminding ourselves that we are completely unable to influence anything once the deadline has passed.
Baker hovering on the edge of the top 1k and should jump in there by the end of the GW all things being equal, Adam on the other hand hoping for no more pain...
Another good Sunday evening chat, briefly interrupted by dinner orders but otherwise our normal chinwag with beers and whisky, a delight.

GW27 - Perspective
Perspective - it's good to have it as we reflect on our tough decisions this week re: were we right to FH or not to FH and compare to other things happening right now. A shared fear between Zinchenko and Mykolenko as well as the return of Christian Eriksen the real life talking points.
From an FPL point of view, ultimately FH teams are on green arrows, non-FH teams probably aren't that far behind thanks to City not performing.
We cover some points about when to wildcard, some talk on fixtures as well as covering the games as best we can mid week.
The pod was recorded on Sun 27th Feb so naturally by the time the FA Cup games have finished some decisions may change but hopefully we covered some permutations to put thoughts in your mind.

GW10 - It Wasn't That Bad Really / Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 / FPL
Join us as we discuss Fantasy Premier League (FPL) GW10 with basically 100% of meaningful managers captaining Salah. And it gave us a Gameweek that really depended on whether you owned Reece James or not.
We've gone through a small rebrand from Just Above The Average to Above Average FPL and I hope that you agree it's much cleaner and punchy. We like it anyway.
Hot Topics this week include what to do with City defence and do we just get Chelsea full backs in and be done with it? Who are our budget enablers with the Bees (not Brentord) as in Brighton and Burnley potentially offering us routes to cash for a second premium. Is CR7 back in our thoughts, are Spurs firmly in the bin? Nuno out may change that dramatically.

GW9 - I Kai'nt Believe I Didn't Captain Salah / Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 / FPL

GW7 - Wildcard Played - Wildcard Active
32 points the average. Thirty two. THIRTY TWO.
So Chelsea clean sheet wiped out, Lukaku with no returns, Ronaldo on the bench. Salah being Salah.
It was an eventful week even if the scores perhaps did not reflect it.
We take a look at the gameweek in review, it appears the wildcarders did not get back to back victories this week bar a few punts on Chilwell and Azpi, maybe Jimenez (although Hwang stole the show).
CY hit wildcard at 10.30am on Saturday for a 2 point gain, Baker is now on Wildcard for the IB. Lots to talk about there.
This is where the season really starts, planning for 20+ GW's - bring it on.

The only saving grace was that 4 goals in the NLD meant Macmillan received £20 from us, which can only be a good thing.
So, back to the subject at hand. We tried to cover the GW as objectively as possible. Are the early wildcarders now starting to see their fresh tyres yield them an advantage? Usual ramble through the GW and looked ahead to a very difficult set of fixtures this week coming.

Trent ill, Son rising from the unknown, Tsimikas, Benrahma injured? All part of the drama that preceded GW5 but we got through with limited damage.
We talk primarily about the GW as always, as well as the above with respect to press conferences and when they may not be the most useful.
We touch on talismen from lesser/promoted teams and compare them to the rotation risks at the 7m-8m price point in midfield for the premium teams.

The People's Pod v1
Hope everyone is enjoying the IB, certainly a lot of things happening impacting our decisions for GW4 not least with CR7 being released early after (purposely?) getting booked following becoming the all time leading International Goalscorer despite missing a penalty! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!?
Anyway. We've mixed it up this week with a People's Podcast inviting three guys for a chat, two of which are relatively new to the community themselves to get some different viewpoints on how they play the game. It's great getting the big accounts on from time to time but we wanted to do something different, and we're glad we did!
The usual topics came up re: Wildcard with 2/5 of us basically on it and 3 of us holding firm with transfers in hand. Lukaku, CR7, fixture swings etc. Was a good chat.

GW3 - Wildcard Time? RonalDO or RonalDO-NT?
Gameweek Three is done and we are maintaining rank nicely between us despite having two very different team setups and captains.
The main question as we enter the IB....is it time to Wildcard and are we looking at this just for the purpose of getting in the likes of Ronaldo and Lukaku? Do we need to rush in to it or is our team structure at a point where we can observe for a few weeks?
Some other takeaways from GW3 and more about GW4 next week when we debut our People's Pod.
In terms of the Pod League Jason Schwabe leads the way and takes August Manager of the Month and FPLReuser smashed us in the Predictor (tweet will show that quite clearly), we've got some work to do.

We were joined this week by Garth (FPLShark) who is UK born living it up in Canada doing the early shift to keep his rank up high. Garth talks us through his data overload and technical eye test (as a football coach) and how overcoming his bias has rocketed his OR. The man wants to win it, we couldn't find any reasons to go against that. A great chat for sure.

GW17 Review - Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you all. I think we can all agree 2020 will go in to the history books for all the wrong reasons, not least because Liverpool won the league...
In all seriousness we're back amongst it after a small hiatus over the festive period, we promised content and didn't deliver (apologies). Just like CY's team over the same timescale.

GW5 - FPL Highs vs Real Fan Lows...
A real mixed bag watching Tottenham lose a three goal lead in the final 8 minutes only helped by the fact we had Kane and Son between us.
Not our most structured effort this week but some good conversation on defensive mindset, albeit not the most exciting part of the FPL game, but could be key to differentiate yourselves from the rest.
