Small Talk Big Ideas - Rosalie and Julian Ugarte
This episode of Small Talk Big Ideas podcast is with my Mum and Dad, Rosalie and Julian Ugarte, and as with all parents their influence in my life has been an incredible experience. It’s only in recent years that I have realised how the connection between us had to be increased, and that the simple words “I love you” are easy to say. Listen in on the stories of their lives, investing in property, and listen as I'm brought to tears watching the pain in my mother's eyes as she relives a traumatic experience through two generations. It's an open an honest conversation with some surprises, even for me; including the realisation that my father at 13 years of age was the person who discovered that my grandfather had passed from this earth.

Small Talk Big Ideas - Sam Laing and Bella Vallejo - Crossfit Movida
What does a fitness studio have to do with a podcast for property people? Well, fitness (and fitness businesses in particular) require a certain mindset. It’s one of dogged determination, and a drive to succeed. But success doesn’t come without balance. It’s why I’ve always advocated that to be successful in anything (property, business, and more) you need to keep the WHOLE you moving in the right direction. That’s your Wealth, Health, Opportunity, Love, and Evolution. That’s why I invited two inspiring business owners and athletes to my podcast. Not only are they hugely successful in business and incredibly nice people, Sam and Bella of Crossfit Movida have kicked my butt around the gym more than once! I hope you enjoy this episode of Small Talk Big Ideas.

Small Talk Big Ideas - Glenys Howard - Tiny Home Resident
It’s not very often that on a Facebook post, I get the outstanding support from the public. Glenys who knew nothing about us, in her practicality commented on how co-living was a fix to the housing affordability problem. Within the Facebook thread she made sense. She spoke her truth and was on the same page as me. More housing can be produced out of the housing we already have. It was so refreshing to have a simple and yet well educated chat with Glenys. I found her to be a kindred spirit!

Small Talk Big Ideas - Joel Keefer and Bianca Brown - Ian Ugarte Graduates
This is a podcast I encourage you to listen to, because this amazing couple are paving their own courageous path. Bianca Brown and Joel Keefer joined me as students wanting to learn about how to invest in property and get high returns from their investments. Since joining my HI-RES program, we’ve become best mates! We have shared a massive marathon and work together every day. I am so very emotional about how they live their life to its fullest potential. Not only are they building their wealth, but they have not skimped on enjoying every day. If I had my time again at their age, I would do exactly what they are doing.

Small Talk Big Ideas - Rob Flux - Property Investor Network
One of the many things I have in common with my guest this week, Rob Flux, is a strong and real desire to use his decades of property knowledge to help people get ahead. And that’s because like me, Rob didn’t come from extraordinary means. In fact, his journey to becoming a professional property developer started from very small beginnings and the tragedy that was one of the most destructive natural disasters in Australia’s history – Cyclone Tracey, which flattened his childhood home. Join me to hear his fascinating and inspiring story.

Small Talk Big Ideas - David Morrison - The Optimised Dad
Of all of the conversations I’ve had on Small Talk Big Ideas, this is one of the most powerful. David Morrison like many of us, struggled to balance his work and family life, and ultimately started to question the 9 to 5 work model. He drew a direct line between the search for happiness and abandoning traditional husband, father, provider roles that so many men strive to meet. He helps other fathers find ways to be their best selves in life, at home, and through their careers.

Small Talk Big Ideas - Mark Hodge - Maisonnets
The best people I know have had more than one career. But few have been as successful as my next guest. Join me this week as I chat with former Dancing With The Stars star, professional dancer, and choreographer, Mark Hodge, about how he pivoted to property and became a short stay expert. A lifetime of wear and tear on his body, plus a hit and run car accident and two hip replacements meant Mark needed to find a new path. His passion for property, born out of a lifetime of travel, lead Mark to become a short stay Airbnb investor and boutique hosting agency. His story is fascinating and his property strategy is inspiring

Small Talk Big Ideas - Jane Slack-Smith - Your Property Success
My chat with property expert and educator Jane Slack-Smith is as fascinating as it is inspiring. Jane’s meagre beginnings growing up on the family farm and a career as a mining engineer gave her the drive to become one of Australia’s most successful property experts. She was the first Australian female mining engineer to work underground, an early career that gave her a steely determination to succeed, and a desire to help others thrive -not just survive. A crushing diagnosis in 2019 of Cushings Disease and subsequent surgery to remove a brain tumour, reset Jane’s priorities. As she says, “I wanted I want to come out of this better and a better person.” A chance conversation with a nurse in the recovery ward led Jane to the realisation that her deep desire was to help people become financially secure, so that they can achieve their own full potential and create intergenerational change. For this property expert, property is just one piece of the puzzle.

Small Talk Big Ideas - Glen Campbell - Brandheart
What makes a great leader? It’s a question that I’ve been trying to get to the heart of for years as I built several businesses (27 in as many years in fact!). That’s why my chat this week with brand guru Glen Campbell was so fascinating. Glen realised long ago that leadership is borne of authenticity, and has made it his driving passion to help leaders find their unique voice. One of the most surprising things about Glen is how he overcame feeling enslaved to a $350 million corporation and built his company, Brandheart, to empower positive leadership. In our chat today, we uncover how emotions generate different electro-magnetic energy, and Glen reveals that the heart has its own brain. Come on a journey with us to discover what it takes to become a better leader!

Small Talk Big Ideas - Cyndi O'Meara - Changing Habits
Nutritionist, author, and filmmaker Cyndi O’Meara is on a one-woman crusade to reveal the food industry’s deep dark secrets. In our chat, she explains how growing up without medicine, drugs, or doctors paved the path for her to overcome her most significant hurdle, chronic pain. That journey became the inspiration to create the documentary, ‘What The Wheat.’ What surprised me most was Cyndi’s admission that the unhealthiest time in her life was when she was vegan. Join us as we uncover why humans are not adapting to ultra-processed foods, and why it could spell disaster if we continue on our current path. If you’re passionate about health and nutrition and want to know how you can safeguard your future health, this is one podcast you won’t want to miss!
