A 2004 study shows that simply asking people to commit random acts of kindness can significantly increase happiness levels for several weeks.

A 2008 study shows that asking people to spend an extra gift of money on others - instead of themselves - relates to greater happiness at the end of their day.

And another study, by the esteemed Adam Grant, shows a 26% increase in progress and productivity in participants who kept a "contribution journal."

What does this all mean?

That though we all know that giving and charity are the right thing to do for others, they may also be the right thing to do for ourselves. For our happiness. For our success.
