Food - A System for Preparedness
Napoleon is famously quoted as stating that an army marches on its stomach. Cooks are important, we wouldn't be here if we didn't have at least one. For preparedness, we view food as a system, with several stages: acquire, store, prepared and dispose. Non-perishable food is good for a few hours, but on day four of no power and you try to hand out granola bars, you'll have mutiny. Hence, the need to have an alternate heating capability as part of your shelter in place plan, be that a BBQ, camping stove, solar oven, fire pit or for the bougie amongst us, a lithium battery over 2K watts and a portable induction burner. Whatever your situation is, you'll need one.
The second half we tackle diet - obesity and the links to chemical ingredients in ultra high processed foods. The idea that a human should consume food, single ingredient nature produced material is not new, but research shows that chemicals in packaged foods are interfering with our ability to identify when we're full and to some degree, these chemicals can induce addiction.
Research demonstrates its not just eat less and move more. A prepared individual needs to eat, so eat well - thrive, don't just survive.Support the show
