Pushing Your Limits & the Kindness of Strangers - Carla Molinaro, LEJOG World Record Holder
Play • 23 min

Carla Molinaro is an elite runner, running coach and adventurer who seeks events that are slightly harder than the average. She loves pushing her body to the limits by running a long way, up mountains and around islands - she has represented GB at the 100 km World Championships and currently competes for Team Massmart, an elite women's running team based in South Africa.

At the end of July 2020, Carla set a new Women's World Record running from Lands End to John O'Groats (LEJOG). Now, admittedly this is not an "everyday adventure" by most people's standards - not even Carla herself! However, what became clear from reading Carla's interviews after the race, was that the range of emotions she experienced during the event and her motivations for taking up the challenge, were very relatable to anyone who has ever decided to take on their own adventure.

In this conversation, Carla talks about what inspired her to take on such an immense challenge - especially during lockdown - what kept her going when times were tough and how the support she received along the way was unlike anything she had previously experienced in her running career.
