I am truly thrilled to welcome Jaquara Egan to the podcast this week. Over the past six weeks I have had the pleasure of attending Jaquara's Wayapa Wuurrk immersion and I'm so honoured to invite her to chat with me today.
A proud Muthi Muthi Woman/ Gundijtmara Woman , Jaquara grew up in Mildura on Latje Latje country and now lives and works in Naarm on Wurundjeri country. Her years as an athlete shaped her love for movement and the impact that sport and movement could have on a person's wellbeing. She went on to become a Mental Health Social Worker, Fitness coach and Wayapa Practitioner and is the founder of Jaquara Jean, her private venture. Jaquara Jean's vision is to provide a holistic health service to everyone, that is built on the integration of Aboriginal and first nations knowledge and ways of being and her formal Social Work and Mental Health training.
In our yarn (a word I learned from Jaquara!) we explore what Wayapa Wuurrk is and the important and profound practice and perspective it offers us. We talk about reciprocity, reconciliation, being a good ally to Aboriginal and First Nations people and how we can incorporate Aboriginal ways of being into our lives to find more connection with the land and our community.
