CLT Alliance Talks: The Future of Tourism in the Charlotte Region Post-Pandemic
Play • 40 min

The Charlotte Region isn’t known for tourism. Still, visitors spent $7.8 billion in the region during 2019. That’s more than any region in the Carolinas, including tourism magnets like Myrtle Beach and Charleston. The leisure and hospitality industry has also been one of the hardest hit industries during the COVID-19 pandemic as travel declined. On this week’s CLT Alliance Talks, SVP of Economic Research Chuck McShane talks with Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) Director of Insights Heath Dillard about the state of the leisure and hospitality industry, where the Charlotte Region’s visitors come from, and the future of the tourism economy post-pandemic.
