What Sanford Meisner Told Me About Acting & Why You Should Always Be Creating | Spencer Garrett
Play • 1 hr 32 min

On this episode I talk to actor and producer Spencer Garrett who can currently be seen in the Showtime Mini Series "The Comey Rule". Spencer is a third generation actor who has appeared in films like "Air Force One", "Once Upon a Time....in Hollywood" and Yes Man as well as shows such as "Law & Order", "Mad Men" and "House of Cards". During lockdown he produced and starred in the IGTV Zoom show "Quarantine" which is about an out of work cast from a fictional TV Soap (Chino Hills) who use Zoom to stay connected during the quarantine. All proceeds for the show went to the SAG-AFTRA Covid 19 relief fund.

During the episode we chat about:

  • The experience of going back to set after lockdown and what it's like filming in the Covid Era.
  • How Quarantine the show came to be and why Spencer wanted to get involved as a producer as well as an actor.
  • The logistics of creating a Zoom series.
  • The experience of creating the hit podcast series "America 2.0" starring Laurence Fishburne.
  • His love for indie films.
  • Why everyone should always be creating their own work and honoring their craft.
  • How acting and performing is in his family DNA.
  • What Sanford Meisner told him when he interviewed to study with him, which he did for 7 years.
