“ Heavenly Citizens”

  • This world is not our home; Like the Jew, we are displaced; we are nomads: Heb 11:13

Three Facts about our Heavenly Citizenship:

1.         We are God’s Chosen People

  • We are now part of Israel: Gal. 3:28-29

2.         Our Relationship with God is Fatherly

  • God, the father knew us; he knew us before the world began; God is outside of time. Rom 8:29
  •  Jesus taught us to pray:  Matthew 6:9
  • Our relationship is intensely personal: Rom 8:15
  •  Our Father gives only good gifts: Mt. 7:9-11

Two results from the Spirits sanctifying work:

   2.      Cleansing from Sin through Christ’s blood

  • Peter is recalling the Covenant experience: Ex. 24:8-9
  • Just like the Israelites we never achieve perfect obedience; David prays for cleansing: Psalm 51:7
  •  We need constant cleansing: 1 John 1:8-9
  •  He ends his greeting with blessing!
  • The peace of Christ: John. 14:27
