             “Responding to Salvation”

                           Isaiah 12:1-6


Five Responses to Salvation:

1.         Praise & Thanksgiving

  •   Isaiah recognized his depravity: Isaiah 6:5-6
  • He is a sinner: Isaiah 64:6
  • Jesus is God: John 1:1


2.         Trust (Faith)

  •  Remember they have been trusting in man: Isaiah 2:22


3.            Strength & Song

  •  Those who can leap over the chasm of fear will discover that they have the Lord’s strength: Isaiah 40:31
  • Song is the natural expression of the spirit, which is free: Ps 40:1-3


4.                  Joy

  •  Joy is the inner transformation of the Saved: Acts 8:39
  • Joy comes when salvation is experienced in full measure, like water drawn from an inexhaustible  well: John 4:13-14
  •  What water is to the parched earth of the desert, God’s delivering presence is to the one oppressed by sin and bondage: John 4:15


5.            Proclamation

  •  We cannot keep silent: Acts 4:18-20
  • We can’t keep silent for three reasons:

             1)  God’s deeds: Grace is glorious!

                Isaiah understood that the redeemed would spread the good news: Isaiah 11:10
                The root is Jesus: John 12:32

           2)  God’s commands:  1 Cor. 9:16

           3)  God’s Presence: John 1:14
