Episode 57: Lots of New Watches
This is a big episode because SPANGLER IS BACK! A brief 3 week hiatus sees Spangler return with a new watch for each episode he missed! Spence and Buzz also have made some new acquisitions recently. This is a fun episode where we get to talk about these new acquisitions, fresh forum finds, AND some other new releases. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Episode 56: W&W with Fifth Wrist Radio
This is our first ever crossover episode and we couldnt be more excited. Spence and Buzz were thrilled to join Anthony and Vinnie from Fifth Wrist Radio! These guys have been doing a series of shows for a little bit longer than we have, and it was fun to collaborate with like minded folks. They also were our first guests to come to us FROM THE FUTURE! The time change made for a lot of fun. We get into some of the usual bits from our show, as well as some from theirs as well. The discussion of podcast insights and memorable moments was fun given that we were able to pull on a year's worth of episodes. We do eventually get into our main topic that seems to be a big discussion amongst the #watchfam lately: Is any watch REALLY New? Most people compare each new release to something that came before it (especially something from Rolex or designed by Gerald Genta). We each offer our opinions of why we think more choice is better (typically) and then tackle another fun topic. This episode was a great chat, as you can tell by the length, and we were glad to make some new friends from Australia! Give them a listen, if you enjoy what we have going on, Fifth Wrist Radio should be right up your alley!

Episode LV: Superb Owl Watch Prop Bets with @brodinkee
* Episode LV (55 for those of you less familiar with the Super Bowl, or Roman Numerals) is an absolute blast! Buzz and Spence (Spangler had some travel related issues) have a fun conversation with our buddy @brodinkee! When your 55th episode lines up with the 55th big game, you cannot pass up the opportunity to make watch predictions in the format of prop bets! We each go through our watch predictions for the rest of 2021, with a Lead Pipe Lock, Safe Play, Even Money, and Long Shot bet! We go through the parlance in the episode, so dont worry if you are not a gambler (we actually had Bro explain most of it to us prior to recording...). We then assign each bet a WIS (WIS Intolerance Score) to each of our predictions. Unfortunately, no sports book has actually been willing to take any action on these bets, so for now we just have to wait to see how we did!

Episode 54:Collector Conversation with @case_and_crown (aka the Microbrand Queen)
In this Collector Conversation we sit down with friend of the podcast @case_and_crown, the Microbrand Queen, long may she reign! All joking aside, we have a fantastic conversation with Debby. She has a unique origin story when it comes to watch collecting. She has an affinity for the microbrands, owning more than most, if not all of the collectors that we know personally. She has recently "discovered" other brands as well, having added both Oris and that brand with a 5 pointed crown... Her story about one of her acquisitions had Spence and Buzz in stitches, and it was most definitely the first time a certain phrase has been uttered on the podcast. Debby is also a part of the New England watch club the "Boston Watch Shots" who are her friends and enablers. They are always there to offer discussion on new pieces, and she said they are a great sounding board. We also do a bit of detective work on one of their members who's identity might be revealed in the days to come, so stay tuned. We had an excellent time chatting with Debby, and are sure you will enjoy this conversation.

Episode 53: One Year Podiversary
We did it! One year is in the books! We honestly cannot believe that this podcast has made it this far. There have been excellent interviews, banter, tropes, alliteration, new friends, and plenty more over the past year. We wouldnt have made it this far without you! Our listeners (regardless of the actual number). This episode is quite a bit of fun, between some "well wishes" from listeners and past guests, to a neat drinking game that may have been coined on a previous episode. We bring the heat with some #FreshForumFinds, we talk about some new releases, and some watches that you can't get anymore (not that you could really before). Sit back, relax, and enjoy this one year anniversary special!

Episode 52: Collector Conversation with @Gelatomancer
This episode was a long time coming. Our friend @gelatomancer (Noah) who has been a regular contributor to our site (www.zeitzwatches.com) is FINALLY a guest on the podcast. We get into the usual Collector Conversation discussion such as his origin story with watches, how he ended up tool watch focused, and how his collection has evolved. Noah started with microbrand watches and has since ventured into German watchmaking, which is very appropriate given our location in the very German (based on settling) Cincinnati, OH. We do get into a bit of a history/geography lesson on the city, which ties into Noah's first watch. We hope you enjoy this episode.

Episode 51: New Speedymasters and Broken Resolutions
In this episode the guys talk new Speedy! We give several Omega Opinions on the look of the new Speedmaster, the different versions, as well as another fund Omega rabbit hole we have been exploring lately. We also stick to our New Year's Resolution and come up with three exciting Fresh (fast) Forum Finds! There is additional peer pressure to help Spangler keep up with one of his resolutions, as some have already fallen by the wayside. Buzz is also on could nine after the Browns victory earlier in the week, and he has the best idea we have come up with so far!

Episode 50: Back to Banter and Tropes
This week's episode is just Spence, Spangler, and Buzz for the first time in several weeks. We talk about some of the happenings in the past few episodes, some updates to the site, how we are keeping up with our resolutions and more! We start with the usual, wrist/drink check, then get into any watch adjacent items we received for the holidays. We then check in to see if we are keeping up with our resolutions (I guess Buzz gets a pass on that) and do another Fresh Forum Find! We then (presciently) talk about the new Speedmaster, what we hope it looks like, and whether or not it is on one of our lists. Lastly, we revive the Defunct Design trope and talk about two of our favorite now discontinued Rolex models. Enjoy!

Episode 49: New Year's Resolutions with @Brodinkee
He's Back! You knew that for the last episode of 2020 we were going to have some fun! We brought back our buddy @brodinkee for some New Year's Resolutions (watch style). This episode is a ton of fun, from resolving to listen to Spangler more (about Whiskey) to wearing what you want, to collecting with a purpose. We pause for some reflection about the hobby, where we are as collectors, and where the podcast is going. We also have a Fresh Forum Find for you all, because we are resolving to do that more frequently in the new year! This one is a lot of fun, as it always is when we hang out with Bro. We hope you all enjoy!

Episode 48: Jon Weber from Par Weber Watches
This week's episode (sorry, a day late again, I know) features Jon Weber from Par Weber watches. If you aren't aware, Jon is doing something pretty neat in the micro brand watch space. He has created his own proprietary luminance system called Enduro-Lume, which is patent pending! He has deployed this technology in a watch that Buzz and Spence have been lucky enough to try out for a good chunk of time, the Coefficient. Jon's is a watch guy, but he realized that not all lume, light sources, etc. are created equal. He found this out while feeding his newborn son at 4:00 A.M. (been there!). His Seiko, while great, wouldnt last that deep into the night. His G-Shock required a button push or flick of the wrist to engage the backlight, not exactly easily done whilst feeding a baby that you want to get back to sleep. What he has developed is an always on lighting system using a series of LEDs running at extremely low output, hence a battery life of around 3 years. Buzz and Jon get really deep into the challenges of manufacturing enduro-lume, how he got the LEDs to work, how he managed to get the technology into something as small as a watch, and how the design of the watch plays into the form following function ethos of a true tool watch. This is an exciting episode, because what Jon has developed is some very cool technology, much of which is manufactured in the United States, all packed into a watch that is an excellent wear! We really hope you enjoy this episode.

Episode 47: Mike Stockton From Fratello is Back!
Our apologies for the delay in uploading the episode, but one of us had to learn how to edit as Spangler is in a cabin that ADVERTISED WIFI but did not actually have wifi. Anyway, our buddy Mike from Fratello sits down with Spence and Buzz to talk about a great number of topics. Of course we had to start with the new FratellOris that was released (and is on Spence's wrist for the episode) as it was inspired by Mike's mod of two watches that Oris released in 2017 and 2018. Mike talks about the process for his original modification, the design of the new watch, and why Fratello really enjoyed working with Oris on this piece. From there, we talk about the various watch trends we have seen this year, what we liked, and what we were luke warm on. Oris, Omega, Rolex, and Breitling had some killer releases this year, and we hope this can continue. Lastly, we talked about what 2021 may hold for watch fairs, meetings, releases, and sales. In person, large scale, events might not be a thing f…

Episode 46: Lauren and Lorenzo (LaurenZo) from Lorier Watches!
We had the pleasure of chatting with Lauren and Lorenzo from Lorier watches for the second time! Hot off the release of the much anticipated Hyperion they were able to walk us through how busy 2020 was for them from a release perspective, how they decided to revamp the different models, and their goals for 2021. We had the opportunity to spend some time with their newly released dual crown Hydra II, and the three of us are huge fans of that model. Lauren and Lorenzo walked us through the design process for that model, what made the dual crown case more complex than usual (hint, acrylic) and some of the feedback they have gotten from the watchfam. We also talk about their early 2020 trip to Hong Kong, and what this year has meant for the micro brand space when it comes to watch releases, prototyping, designing, etc. Spence and Lauren also gripe about being lefthanded, and the struggle that us lefties go through when it comes to writing, notebooks, three ring binders, and baseball…

Episode 45: Jonathan Ferrer of Brew Watches Returns
One of our favorite guests to date comes back for another episode! We are very excited to have a chance to sit down with Jonathan Ferrer from Brew Watches for the second time. We have the first watch twinning on this episode as both Spence and Jonathan were wearing the burgundy Retromatic. This is very exciting. We also talk about the design process, some of the color iterations that were left on the cutting room floor, why the burgundy colorway doesn't have the yellow seconds hand, and much more. We also talk about Brew Time, the magazine that accompanies the new Retromatic. This adds a personal touch to the story of the design process. We also really dive into the bracelet for the Retromatic as it really ties the whole watch together. Jonathan talks to us about the design, the structure, and how he had to ensure that the bracelet was thin enough and flexible enough to be comfortable, but also retain its structural integrity. We think he absolutely nailed it. Of course, we had to…

Episode 44: W&W with Chase from Oak&Oscar
The guys (and special returning guest Ryan) sit down with Chase Fancher from Oak&Oscar. We talk about how he goes about designing a watch, what inspires him, and how he names his pieces. Spence gives a brief review of the O&O Humboldt, which will be fully reviewed on Zeitz in the next week or so! Chase is really working to not only build a brand (which you can see all of the design evolution on his website!) but also a community. The video series he has produced, the zoom happy hours he has done during the pandemic, and the owners gatherings each year (when there isnt a pandemic) are really fostering a community of enthusiasts for watches and his brand. We also get into a few cool stories about guests he has had, as well as some of the special pieces he has worked on. The story about the Jackson Flyback chronograph that was specially made for the coach of the US Gold Medal curling team and the process for making the collaboration with Wilson Baseball Gloves are two AMAZING sto…

Episode 43: Collector Conversation and Movember Musing with Superdoc @RJKAMA
Spence and Buzz had the pleasure of chatting with SUPERDOC @RJKAMA. We chat about what got him into collecting and he gives one of the more thoughtful answers we have had on the show. All of us are collectors, it just manifests itself in different passions. Currently for those of us listening to the show it is watches. We also get his opinion, to a degree, on the stainles steel Rolex sport model craze. This part of the conversation takes a fun turn as we all revisit hype items of the past (who doesn't love Beanie Babies!). RJ is a passionate Seiko and Grand Seiko collector. He recently was able to go on a trip to the Seiko Factory in Japan to see how these beautiful timepieces are created. He was able to share some of the details from that trip, and how it fuels his passion for what they are able to produce. We then shift to another brand that is near and dear to his heart, Omega. While he has a soft spot for Omega, the conversation centers more around some of their interesting de…

Episode 42: The Albany Watch Company
This week's episode features our first guest from the Southern Hemisphere! We had the opportunity to chat with Brett Williams, co-founder of the Albany Watch Company. Brett is located in Cape Town, South Africa but also has connections to Australia. Surfing, Sharks, Snakes, Spiders, its all here! Chatting with Brett was an absolute pleasure, and the first piece from Albany is truly a stunner. We have had the blue version of the AMA Diver in for review for about a week now, and it is very impressive. Brett has a unique approach to watch design, seeking out "lesser known adventurers." The story of the Ama in Japan is truly unique, and very fitting for a skin diver. We did chat a little about what is to come now that the kickstarter was a big success. We also chat with Brett about his other passion, acting. Brett is a professional actor with credits to his name such as Black Sails and Raised by Wolves. He told us about how his life as an actor started, and how it prepared him to take a…

Episode 41: Whiskey and Adulting
This week it is just Spence and Buzz, and we do have a lot to talk about. Despite trying to bore our listeners by talking about refinancing a mortgage and voting in the election today, there is quite a bit of watch content as there have been several new releases that we have yet to discuss. We start off with the customary drink/wrist check, and it starts here. Buzz has the Par Weber Coefficient, a piece we have in for review to accompany his Happy Amber. Spence is double wristing again this time with his new Brew Retromatic in burgundy (Brewgundy) and the Albany AMA diver along with his Larceny bourbon. The guys are excited about the pieces, and listeners should look out for some good content over at Zeitzwatches.com and future episodes. Fresh forum finds return and we pay our respect to Sean Connery who we lost last week. Diving into his time as James Bond and the non-Rolex Submariners he wore on screen. Spence and Buzz then dive into all the watches we haven't been able to talk…

Episode 40: Horological Horrors with @kidwizzle
For this our 40th episode we take a bit of a Halloween focus with our guest from @redbarcincy, @kidwizzle. Before getting into our main theme, we take some time to get to know @kidwizzle's background in the hobby, how he takes such great pictures, and a little bit about what is in his collection. Anyone who remembers "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" on Nickelodeon will be familiar with this format. All of us get into our version of "horological horrors." These run the gamut from Wooden Watches, Diesel Watches, Water Resistance, Setting the Date, etc. The discussion goes in a lot of different directions, and was a lot of fun. We hope you all stay tuned to the end for the biggest horological horror of the night!

Episode 39: Calibear 400, Astor and Banks, Lorier Hydra
Buzz is back this week, and the guys are talking new releases, new calibers, and a little bit about the new Speedy. The guys start off with the new Oris Caliber 400, released by Oris last week and up on Zeitz watches for those so inclined. This new engine, as Buzz described it, features a 5 day power reserve, anti-magnetic properties, and a 10 year warranty and service interval. It is quite an accomplishment, and we cannot wait to see what watches it ends up in. The guys also talk about the new Lorier Hydra II that is in for review. Spence currently has it, but Spangler will be writing the Work Week Watch Wrap. The 38mm case is similar to Spence's new 38mm El Primero, and that is a high compliment. It is very wearable, the dual crowns give it that little something extra (you know, the second crown), and the bracelet is absolutely fantastic. Another 38mm watch has recently hit the market, and that is the new Astor + Banks Fortitude. Their take on an "officer's watch" the new Fortitud…

Episode 38: Zach from CincyStrapco and Nereus Watches is back!
Buzz has the night off, so Spence and Spangler sit back down with our OG guest, Zach from CincyStrapco and Nereus watches, to talk about his latest project. Zach gives us the story behind Nereus, a watch brand that will focus on tool watches, and the first model in the brand's history the Santiago. The Santiago is inspired by the Tudor Submariner, specifically the version with the lollipop hour hand. While the watch is an homage to the Tudor, some of the design elements make it more its own watch. The choice between a 12-hour and dive bezel, the roulette date wheel, and the case dimensions (being slightly SLIMMER than the original) are all small details that help complete the package. Zach also runs us through the technical specs, movement choice, and other fine details. We also get into some of the new watch releases because those of us that know Zach know that he definitely has his own opinions of things. It was a blast having Zach back on the podcast, be sure to check out CincyStr…

Episode 37: Spence's additions, Spangler's mods, Buzz's Opinions
This week the boys are back with their usual banter about watches that have been released (but not the new silver snoopy!) and watches that are new, or newly back to them from modification! Spangler has made some modifications to his Speedmaster (fitting this is dropping on a Tuesday) that he hinted at in last week's episode. He goes into further detail about the new look of his sapphire sandwich, where he sourced the parts, and how he likes this ruined watch so much more now. Spence talks about the several new additions to his collection which include the Grand Seiko SBGE249, Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 38mm, and Nodus Retrospect2 with a salmon dial. All three of these watches are getting significant wrist time and each can be a great daily wear. The guys also talk about some of the new releases that have come out, or are coming to the U.S. instead of just four random Asian markets. Episode 36: Wristcheese Radio with Brodinkee
Coming to you from an undisclosed location, the one and only Brodinkee! That's right, Spence, Spangler, and Buzz had a chance to shoot the breeze with the Watchfam's favorite memer, and this episode goes to 11! The guys have been very excited for this one, as I know you all can imagine. Brodinkee talks about his inspiration for the account, how it actually started as his wristshot account, and what it was like to have his wife find out he has a cult following of fellow watch nerds. Bro (for short) also gives us some insight into his creative process, describing how he stays current and seeks his inspiration. Sometimes memes take time, other times, they write themselves. I know he mentioned it in his instagram stories when it happened, but the fact that a certain travel clock DROPPED ON HIS BIRTHDAY is just pure gold. Episode 35: Gabe from Collective Horology
Spence and Buzz had the chance to sit down with Gabe, one of the founding members of Collective Horology. Gabe and Buzz were introduced by friend of the show Dustin, over a Monta Skyquest that may have been for sale. It was also obvious that Gabe was someone we would definitely want to have on. The two current collaborations done by Collective are stunning. We were able to ask Gabe about the design process, how they approached the Zenith, and how working with Josh Shapiro on the Portfolio piece was different than working with a major brand. We also got to go deep down the rabbit hole into how Gabe and Asher met Josh and what sparked their idea to do a collaboration with Josh. The story is a good one. Lastly, we get into what watch in his collection is getting the most wrist-time recently. Like any good watch nerd, Gabe has a great story about what inspired him to pick up his Rolex 16710. Episode 34: Mitchell and Martin from Marathon Watches
Spence had the opportunity to sit down with Marathon Watch company Executive Mitchell Wein and Martin Cohen, from their marketing area. Marathon is a Canadian watch company that has a manufacturing facility in Switzerland and is a supplier of watches to the US and Canadian militaries and government agencies. Despite being a close neighbor, the guys had not heard of Marathon Watch Company until Hodinkee's Cole Pennington penned an article about the 36mm Marathon JSAR arctic dial he took on a recent road trip. Upon seeing the watch, we knew we wanted to know more. Mitchell, the grandson of the founder, was able to fill us in on our knowledge gaps. We talked about the founding of the company, how it got its name, its history of supplying the Canadian military with watches in WWII and beyond, and what watches it supplies to various militaries currently. We also get a chance to speak with Jordan, the newest member of the Cincinnati Watch Company team (Spangler definitely doesn't count) and the former executive director of the AWCI. We get into a more technical discussion than we usually do about watchmaking, escapements, working on movements you have no experience with, and how Jordan got his start in the profession. Episode 32.5: Rolex Release Reaction
This is pretty straight forward, the guys react to the new releases from Rolex. The new Cermit, the Grover, the additional submariner variants, etc. Additionally, the biggest surprise was the Oysters Perpetual in all the funky colors and the death of the 39mm OP was also a surprise that came Out of the Blue... It would be great if the new Lady DateJust 31 was an inside joke at Rolex releasing it in conjunction with the Submariner... Skydweller on Oysterflex, nice... Anyway, this is a short one, but it was fun to record. Let's try to make the #rolexgrover a thing!

Episode 32: Rolex Release Reconnaissance
Sunday, August 30th, and the guys are struggling to find something to talk about... Just kidding! This is a very Rolex themed episode given the announcement this week that came "Out of the Blue" including specific Fresh Forum Finds related to the brand. The topic of conversation is what we are thinking Rolex might be releasing tomorrow, what we would love for them to release, and what we know they WON'T be releasing. We also talk about the "leaked" images we have seen on the internet, and how we think everyone will lose their minds if the new Submariner is 41mm. We also debate whether or not the new models could come out in precious metal only or if we will see new ones in stainless as well. Additionally, we bring back the Defunct Design segment to talk about which watches in the Rolex lineup are possibly no longer there after September 1st. After the customary drink and wrist check (Wes brought a strong dring and wrist game!) we found out that the guys from Nodus have known each other for quite a while. Their first venture, a band, had a good amount of success while they were still in school. Excuse the minor segue into guitars, we think it adds to the conversation! The guys went their separate ways in college, and independently got into watches. This was a pretty cool part of the story. Upon graduation, they met up in LA and decided to start Nodus. We get a chance to talk bout the new models that are being released (Contrail II, Duality, Retrospect III, and a forthcoming new piece...) and understand some of the inspiration for the design of their pieces. Episode 30: Everyone Released Something
Or at least it feels that way. We dive into the new offerings from Monta, Cincinnati Watch Company, and Doxa! The Noble is their take on a luxury sport watch, with a slim, familiar case design, new handset, two new dial colors, and new markers. Episode 29: Mike Stockton from Fratello Watches
Episode 29 is a blast! Spence and Buzz sit down with Mike Stockton, all the way from Frankfurt Germany! Apologies to those who don't speak German (myself included), but Buzz has had some fun with the intro to this episode, flexing his 4 years of German in high school. We all know Mike from his time at Fratello Watches, where he is a regular contributor. His first article was, of course, about a Speedmaster he had recently purchased. We also discuss his entry into the hobby, some of the watches in his collection (including an interesting story about a Submariner), and some of the new watches he has added. We talk in a fair amount of detail about the new Breitling Superocean '57, the Crepas Megamatic, and the new Ming diver. These are just some of the highlights in what was a really fun conversation. We cannot thank Mike enough for dealing with the time difference to talk to us, it was a fun conversation, and we can't wait to read his next article on Fratello!

Also, Tudor did a stealth release in a few overseas markets last week, so of course the guys are going to have a bit of Tudor Talk. Size of the watch, dial and bezel style, and why they only release it in certain markets baffles us. We would love to see this in person. This was a fun chat that is more back to form for us.

Episode 27: Collector Conversation with @normal.sinus.rythm
This episode is the second in our collector conversation series as we sit down with our Redbar Cincy friend Dustin, a Cincinnati native and avid collector. We then dive into his passion for independent watchmaking, and the direction his collection has shifted recently. His collection currently includes DeBethune, Sarpaneva, and Gronefeld. We also talk about how during the pandemic, watches have been a much needed source of joy for the collecting community. How the people in the hobby make sitting at a computer screen talking about tiny mechanical pieces of art we wear to tell the time an enjoyable experience. Episode 25: Worn&Wound co-founder Zach Weiss
Episode 25 and this is a big one! The guys sit down with Zach Weiss to discuss the journey that led to what Worn&Wound is today. We talk about what got Zach interested in watches, his design background, watches he has owned and currently owns, and what gave him and co-founder Blake the idea to start writing about watches. Zach tells us how Worn&Wound was started, what their first days were like, their first watch reviewed, and how they decided to start the Wind Up Watch Fair. We also ask Zach about what watches he wears most, favorite watches at certain price points, and what advice he would give his past self about starting the site knowing what he knows now. It was great of Zach to take time out of his busy schedule to sit down with three fellow watch nerds and share some more of the Worn&Wound story. This is definitely an episode you won't want to miss!

Episode 24: Tudor Treatise
On this week's episode, our budy Ryan from our group text joins us! We talk the watches we are wearing and the whiskey we are drinking, and maybe a bit about a certian blue watch that was released what seems like forever ago at this point. But first, Spence and Spangler are both wearing watches on loan from Oris, one of which has a review now up on zeitzwatches.com which you will want to check out. The guys then get into the blue watches released this week, but the majority of the time is spent on the Tudor Black Bay 58 Navy Blue. Spangler talks about how it compares to his OG BB58, Buzz has also seen it in the metal and was impressed. Ryan offers his take on how it is still a fabulous watch that will sell, and Spence talks about a potential missed opportunity for Tudor with this piece. This was a fun episode, with some minor rants and a lot of Tudor Talk!

Episode 23: Oris Oration with VJ Geronimo
This is the one we have been teasing for the last several weeks. The guys had the opportunity to chat with Oris North America CEO, VJ Geronimo. VJ was kind enough to send us the Oris ProPilot X (PPX) and the Oris Divers 65 Chrono (with bronze bezel) to review, and both of those feature in this episode (although the reviews will be up soon on OUR NEW WEBSITE!). In his ten years at the helm of Oris North America, VJ mentioned that the biggest trend in the industry has been the strengthening of the community in recent years. With several websites, blogs, instagram influencers, and of course, podcasts entering the fold. They are one of the few larger Swiss brands that is able to have conversations like this on a regular basis, and we applaud that sense of independence from Oris. We also talk about the new release that is out today, the Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition, a new version of the Aquis GMT, which you can also read about on Zeitzwatches.com. From there, the conversation hea…

Episode 22: Lauren and Lorenzo from Lorier
The guys have a chat with the husband and wife team, Lauren and Lorenzo, from Lorier Watches. We get into a brief history of how they started Lorier, which led to them quitting their jobs as teachers (World History for Lauren and French and Economics for Lorenzo, both high school) to focus on Lorier full time. We talk about what their idea is of a perfect watch (hint, it involves a famous super spy) and how their designs speak both to collectors, and people who are looking for one watch to wear every day to any occasion. We also help them debunk a myth about their limited edition with Worn & Wound, and talk about what they have coming up. They also ask the guys what their opinion is of dress watches. This was such a fun conversation, and we cannot wait to see what these two come out with next!

Episode 21: Collector Conversation with @moorewatches
This episode is on a different level everyone! The guys sit down with NAABS founder and vintage Rolex collector @moorewatches to talk about how he got into watch collecting, why vintage, why Rolex, and a few other fun stories. We were introduced to @moorewatches via our friend @cincywatchdoc, who has worked on some of the pieces in his collection, including a Speedmaster that was previously owned by someone we all know (hint: he owns a lot of sweaters, among other things). We also talk about how he came to find a "Big Crown" Submariner in a relatively short amount of time with the help of an Indy Car driver, and how a watch was shipped to him by a former LA Clipper. We also discuss NAABS, a group of close knit collectors in North America, who get together once per year to nerd out over vintage watches, everything from Patek to Gallet to Seiko. He also gives the guys some advice for anyone who is considering jumping into the shark infested waters of vintage Rolex. This was a fun convers…

Episode 20: Fantasy Draft Inception
On this weeks episode, the guys put their own spin on a Fantasy Watch Draft, taking cues from the most popular episode type in watch podcasting, to the most popular type of watch on the market these days. That's right, we are talking Integrated Bracelet Sports Watch Fantasy Draft! This was such a fun episode to record, and should be a fun listen. The guys are also all wearing watches that aren't their own, and each have a #FreshForumFind from eBay!

Episode 19: Wrist Watch Wearability
Spangler has the night off, so Spence and Buzz talk about Spence's new aquisition, the SARX069, better known as the Seiko Presage Turnograph! After talking about the new acquisition, the guys talk about wearability. Spence is wearing his Tudor Black Bay Steel, which has the same case diameter as the Seiko. As one would expect, the two watches wear differently. Spence and Buzz talk about all of the factors that go into how a watch wears, dial size, bezel width, case thickness, bracelet taper, lug to lug measurement, and lug width. This topic comes up a lot (thickness especially recently on 40&20!) among watch enthusiasts, and it is always an interesting discussion.

Episode 18: Brew Watches Brouhaha
Spence, Spangler, and Buzz caught up with Brew Watch Company founder Jonathan Ferrer to talk about his watches, what inspires his design, and what might be coming next from Brew! We get into how he started the company, a little bit about his background, but then also what trends we are all seeing in 2020, what colors could be the next big thing, and how interesting it would be to see microbrand watches in the same store as larger and fashion brands. Buzz has been hands on with the Retrograph for over a week, and offers his impressions of the watch in a mini review as part of the wrist check. The last part of the interview turns into a RedBar meet and greet as each of us, including Jonathan talk about what got us into collecting, and Jonathan walks us through part of his collection! This is a fun episode you definitely won't want to miss!

On this week's episode, Spence, Spangler, and Buzz talk watches and things to come for the podcast. The guys are working on some new things, including a youtube channel. Buzz has a watch in ON LOAN! There might be some unboxing videos coming soon, you never know! Unless you follow us on instagram, and then you might know. Spence has the Moser Pioneer Funky Blue Black in as part of the #PioneerTour. The watch was with a friend of the show before everyone went into lock down mode, so it has found its way on this podcast. The guys talk about their impressions of the watch (the dial is gorgeous), some of the fun things that H. Moser Cie are known for, and how this watch works in a collection. Lastly, the guys work through a few Fresh Forum Finds, and Buzz brings it home with a Defunct Design! There may even be a Longines Leap and a Bvlgari Beat! Listen to find out!

Episode 16: Rick from Cincinnati Watch Co.
On this episode, Spence, Spangle, and Buzz chat with Rick from Cincinnati Watch Co. We know Rick from RedBar Cincy (where else) and talk about what got him into watches, what started Cincinnati Watch Co. and some things he has his eye on as a collector. Cincinnati Watch Co. is unique in that each watch line that is developed is partnered with a specific charity. They have partnered with the Cincinnati Museum Center, Tri-State War Birds, and the Free Store Foodbank. The most recent issue, which you can see all over Cincinnati Watch Co and Whiskey&Watches instagram is the Dive Edition, which partners with the Dive Pirates Foundation. This is a fun conversation. Rick is always thinking about new ideas, and we cannot wait to see what he comes out with next. Be sure to check him out at cincinnatiwatch.com and subscribe to his newsletter!

Episode 15: Matt (@cincywatchdoc) from Richter&Phillips AS SEEN ON HODINKEE
Spencer, Spangler, and Buzz have a fun conversation with Matt (@cincywatchdoc) our watchmaker at local retailer Richter&Phillips. We talk about what got him started as a collector, how he became interested in watchmaking, and his decision to pursue it as a career. He tells us about his time training in Pennsylvania with Rolex, starting up a new state of the art workshop at Richter&Phillips, and answers our questions about movements (7750 is underrated 321 is beautiful, Rolex movements just fall together logically), the collector community, and share some interesting stories along his journey. We only just scratched the surface, and have a feeling Matt will end up as a repeat guest. Also, if you haven't had a chance to read the HODINKEE article about Richter&Phillips in Cincinnati and Matt's workshop, be sure to check it out as he features prominently! https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/de-boulle-in-dallas-tx-and-richter-and-phillips-jewelers-in-cincinnati-oh

Episode 14: W&W on W&W
Yes, that is 4 W's and 2 &'s, all in the same title! We know that our listener is all about alliteration! Spence, Spangler, and Buzz cover the watches (or some of them) released over the weekend at the Watches & Wonders virtual trade show. They each pick the watch they think is the coolest, as well as a watch they think they would actually be able to pull off as a daily wear. It is fun to see a ton of new models released, even if none happen to be from Tudor, Rolex, or Patek! Also, the FreshForumFind returns!

Episode 13: Justin From Monta Watches
This is really exciting for Spence, Spangler, and Buzz. We get a chance to sit down with Justin from Monta Watches (via videocall of course) to talk about the brand's history, his take on the Baselworld debacle, and a few other things. He lets us know about a few exciting things coming (or already announced on Monday) from Monta, and answers a few of our questions about Monta and Everest. Also, we go into his background as a watch guy. He founded the Redbar St. Louis chapter, was Monta's first customer before joining full-time, and is just an all around fun hang! I think we will have to have him back because this interview was just so much fun!

Episode 12: What We're Watching
In this episod, Spence, Spangler, and Buzz talk about the disappointing news: NO NEW PATEK's THIS YEAR! Ha! Actually the discussion centers around the announcement from Rolex/Tudor that there will be no new releases in 2020. Tudor Talk and Rolex Rant ensue. In light of the assurance that there will be no Tudor FOMO, the guys talk about What We're Watching, what watch could be next on the horizon for each of them. It is a fun discussion that includes everything from an Alpha Explorer to a Grand Seiko Quartz, to an Omega Constellation. Weekly staples of Fresh Forum Find and watch/drink check also make their regularly scheduled appearance.

Episode 11: Watches We Would Want*TM (*if they would just change ONE thing!)
This week, Spence, Spangler, and Buzz discuss Watches We Would Want (if they would just change one thing!). We hinted at it last week with Zach, but there are several watches which we love, but once we see one minor detail, we can't unsee it. Whether it has to do with the slightly awkward fit of the Hamilton Intramatic Chrono (a fine watch we all love), the thickness of the Omega Seamaster 300 (a classic vintage looking diver that is on our list), or the presence of EIGHT 5s (yes, EIGHT!) on the Rolex AirKing. Obviously, in this discussion we have our Rolex Rant, Omega Opinion, and Hamilton Hootenanny. We also feature the weekly Fresh Forum Finds and wrist/drink check! Check it out and enjoy!
