December 18th marks State Blood Donor Day in Washington and Oregon, a day set aside to mark the 3rd anniversary of the Amtrak 501 Derailment near Olympia, Washington and critical importance of blood donation, especially now, as we face a new year and the deadly coronavirus that continues to claim lives every day. Podcast Producer John Yeager speaks with Bloodworks staffers on hand that day at the Olympia Donor Center where on December 18th, 2017, when word of the the deadly crash spread, "people just started showing up."
