Collaborating with Menopause and Feeling at the Top of Your Game with National Menopause Foundation Founder, Claire Gill
Play • 41 min

When Claire Gill realized there was a foundation set up to 'Save the Bats' but nothing out there to address the needs of menopausal women, she decided it was completely unacceptable, and maybe,  there was room for both! Unwilling to go down the menopause rabbit hole quietly, Claire is on a mission to lift the shame and taboo that come with growing older as a woman in this age obsessed society. As she looked for peer to peer support, she realized the only organizations really set up to address menopause were geared toward clinicians (mostly men, who were not experiencing menopause anyway!) so she has turned it on it's head.

This is a fired up conversation about what women need and want as they move into the second half of their life. The need for resources and support that have been addressed by Claire and her team, and are now available because of the National Menopause Foundation is an invaluable contribution that must be acknowledged. More than anything, this is  just a feel good message about all the possibilities that are available to women as they grow fabulously older- thanks to women who are determined to make it the best time of their lives, and yours!

Meet Claire!
After a 20+ year career in public relations and marketing for national nonprofits and
public relations firms with Fortune 500 clients, Claire Gill founded the National
Menopause Foundation in September 2019. While serving as Chief Mission Officer for a
health-based nonprofit, Ms. Gill realized there was no national nonprofit dedicated
solely to women’s journey to and through menopause, so she set out to create one. The
National Menopause Foundation’s mission is create a positive change in how people
perceive, understand and experience menopause through education, peer-to-peer
support, activism, and research.
Through its website, The Positive Pause podcast, The Hot Flash electronic newsletter,
and its online community, called The Menopause Metamorphosis, the National
Menopause Foundation seeks to bring about a world where women thrive at every
stage of their lives and have access to the information and networks that ensure
menopause is a positive, inspiring and empowering time in every woman’s life.
Ms. Gill also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Osteoporosis
Foundation, which has a strategic alliance with the National Menopause Foundation.
Ms. Gill is a graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School. She is a member of Les
Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI), a philanthropic organization supporting women
in the food, beverage and hospitality industries. She and her family reside in Lorton, VA.
