On Civic Duty and the LAST FOUR YEARS with NoVA Nation Coalition Creator Nicky McDonnell
Play • 55 min

The last four years of US presidential administration have been a roller coaster. After the events that took place at the US Capitol building a few weeks ago, The Two Jess(es) decide it's time for THAT conversation. The discomfort politics has caused in our collective conversations, the pain it has caused in our lives- Nicky McDonnell recounts the disbelief and shock she felt after the 2016 election and how it drove her to reach out to the strong and courageous women in her community. What started out as a group of 6 women has now grown into the thousands, and they did not waste any time. Whether it was sending out thousands of postcards to advocate for voting, or paying off all the school lunches in Fairfax county, this group of women has channelled their feelings of powerlessness that has wreaked havoc on our country and used it mobilize and affect REAL and lasting change.

Nicky candidly shares how the growth of this group has been the catalyst for introspection and change in her own life. As we wait out the next few days for normalcy to resume, this conversation will leave you challenged as well as hopeful.

What we do matters- the big and the small.
