The End of a Chapter
Things are changing in our little Yes Theory world, as well as the broader world, and we aren’t sure what the future holds. Thomas is headed back to Europe for the foreseeable future, and Matt’s stepped back from hosting. It really feels like the end of a chapter (with a new one coming close behind).  To celebrate and close the last chapter properly, and to end the season on a high note, we took a new spin in this episode. Just like in Episode 8, there are no guests (besides the people that just pop into the recording).  Instead, we travel with Ammar, Thomas, and Matt to the demolition site of their first home together, and listen as they bury their very own treasure -- a time capsule full of memories from this last chapter together. They reflect on the spirit that brought them together, and how unlikely it was that they were able to get this podcast into the world this year. We started the season talking about how crazy, uncertain, and out of control this year has felt. That hasn’t changed so much of the course of these last 10 weeks. The lesson we’ve learned is to just -- make the best of it. Keep growing, trying, bumping around. Find some stillness when you can. Fight the burnout. Maintain hope. Lean into your closest relationships. Make your life meaningful, and just take it day by day. It’s a wrap on Season 1 of the Yes Theory Podcast. Who you gonna call? Mythbusters!
This season on Hormonal we’ve learned a lot about birth control. From the origin of the pill, to how side effects can be beneficial, to the history and future of Reproductive Justice. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t more to learn, especially when it comes to those pesky myths that just never seem to completely disappear. This week on the Hormonal podcast, we are assembling a super squad of science-backed Mythbusters. They’re ready to tackle questions from real users like you. On the mythbusting squad we’re welcoming back Dr. Lynae Brayboy, Clue’s Chief Medical Officer–and also joining us is Amanda Shea, Clue’s Head of Science, and Dr. Hajnalka Hejja, Clue’s Science Lead for Product. "It feels like it's constantly being reinforced that we should have an exactly 28-day cycle that comes at the exact day we expect, month after month after month. And then it's completely not true." EP 3 - Why Valentine's Day Isn't About Love! feat. Dr. Sari van Anders & Will Beischel
Today on the show I’m answering your questions about love - what is it? How do we know when we’re in it? What is the media telling us about love? And, what is the difference between love and lust? My interview with Dr. Sari van Anders and Will Beischel offers an important dialogue on what that difference is and provides an actually useful theory for us to better understand ourselves in the world. What Do You Want & Why Do You Want It
Damona Hoffman has been a dating coach for over 15 years. Is this a podcast about dating? Nope. But it is a podcast about real discussions that are relevant to singles, and it's a genuinely joy to have Damona's wisdom on the podcast this week. We get into our own experiences in dating as well as explore some of the common misconceptions that surround the singlehood space. We'll also get into the disruptions to singlehood and dating that have resulted from the rapid, continuous evolution of technology. This episode also begins with your host Shani Silver answering a Patron question that's vital to understand as we move toward more positive singlehood mindsets, and Shani welcomes back her first guest ever, Jessie Jolles, for a brief chat on her newly launched TV pilot, Forgotten Animals. It's a long one, but a GREAT one. Thank you for listening. A Single Serving Podcast publishes once a month to free-access platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, but new episodes are released every week on Patreon. Stories with Heart: Jessi Hempel of LinkedIn and Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel
Jessi Hempel always knew she wanted to be a writer. From the time she won her grade school writing contest, she knew she was destined to share her gift of the written word. It was a surprise, then, when her success as a tech writer for such magazines as Fortune and Wired ceased to feel as fulfilling as it once had. Many people reach this point in their careers; the excitement ebbs, the shine wears off. Few people take the leap and try something new. Jessi, however, did just that. Spurred by personal hardship, she seized the opportunity to dive into the unknown, striking forth in a new direction with the knowledge that she could never again pursue work that didn’t resonate with the deepest levels of her heart. Ever the storyteller, she is now the host of Webby nominated podcast Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel, in addition to working as senior news editor at large at LinkedIn. Thanks for listening! Don't forget to pre-order Rebecca's new book, Fearless: The New Rules for Unlocking Creativity, Courage, and Success.
