#OneTimers with Mark Pysyk Dallas Stars Defenceman @Mpysyk03
One Timers is a chance to get to know the guest of Sports And More the podcast. We ask about teams, athletes and sports they loved as kids as well as movies, music and who they'd like to have dinner and play golf with. I first met Mark Pysyk in a cold arena outside of Edmonton before the Oil Kings made him their first ever bantam draft pick. He was shy and quiet then and let his game do the talking. 14 years later he's an 8 year NHL veteran and joined me recently on episode 60. I set him up for some One Timers about growing up in Edmonton cheering for the enemy, some of his favourite movies, music and memories as well as who would be in his dream golf foursome. You can find past episodes and more at www.Sportsandmore.ca.

Episode 60 - Mark Pysyk - Dallas Stars Defenceman @MPysyk03
Mark Pysyk was the first ever bantam draft pick of the modern day Edmonton Oil Kings and he would go on to help them win a WHL Championship 5 years after they rejoined the league. He has spent 8 years in the NHL, split between Buffalo and Florida before signing with Dallas this odd off season. We discussed being a UFA for the first time, hockey and life in a bubble, the Florida hockey scene as well as his time with the Oil Kings. We also did word association with some of his teammates during his career. Mark is a great guy who always had time to chat as a player and it was great to catch up. The Weekly Tribute is to Rob and Grace Zittlau who tragically lost their lives last weekend in an auto accident. Rob was the man behind ICU Video, a production company that had a massive impact on amateur sports in Edmonton and throughout the province and country. He was a tireless worker and a perfectionist of the best kind. His drive, ingenuity and spirit will be missed along with his beautiful wife Grace. The Top 3 presented by Ultimate Franchise Fantasy Sports is about the 3 dumb things people do in horror movies. The UFFS poll question is your favourite Oil King memory and in Perfect Player it's horror villains!!!! You can find past episodes and more at www.Sportsandmore.ca.

Episode 59 - AJ Jakubec, TSN 1200 @TheSuperAJ
This is Sports and More where almost anything goes, we mostly stay away from politics and always steer clear of religion (sports gods don’t count) but from sports to pop culture and in between it’s all fair game! AJ Jakubec is the voice of the Redblacks, 67's and Atletico in Ottawa and will be paying close attention to the draft where the Senators have picks three and five. Who they take at 3 depends on doesn't go ahead of them (Byfield or Stutzle) but at five they will have some choices and AJ thinks they'll be looking at a blueliner. We also discussed his very serious health scare and battle last winter, which he is thankfully on the mend from thanks to support from family, friends and frontline health care workers. We also chatted about the upcoming OHL season, if there is one and what the CFL will do moving forward. We ended with some name association about players and coaches he's been around and debated about long bus trips in the WHL vs OHL vs QMJHL. The Top 3 Topic presented by Ultimate Franchise Fantasy Sports is about your favourite draft eligible players for the 2020 draft while the UFFS poll question is who would be the scariest when it comes to horror monsters if they were real and in Perfect Player it's 2020 draft eligible forwards. This week it was such a pleasure to welcome Grant Fuhr to the show. He was the backbone of the Oilers in the 80's, was a star for Canada and rightfully was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. However, Grant's journey wasn't without adversity. From injuries to own goals to being railroaded by the NHL without a positive drug test. Through it all Fuhr has kept an incredibly positive attitude and is always the most gracious person in the room. It was great to spend time with him on the podcast where we went back to the beginning to when he started out having to wear wrong handed equipment to wearing the old face masks and the 1987 Canada Cup. Episode 11 - Jamie Thomas - Fantasy Football Preview
The NFL season is almost here, that means it's draft time for a lot of guys and gals right now. Jamie Thomas joined me for an extended Fantasy Fun Time segment where we went position by position and debated the different types of leagues out there. Who's the most over and underrated at each position and which players are primed for a bounce back or bust season. Blame Jamie if you take his advice and don't win. Would Shattenkirk have worked in Edmonton? I discuss as after the Rangers bought him out, Tampa signed him to a one year deal. The Myron French Question of the Day is: Who would you take 1st overall in a keeper league this year? In the Top 3 it's Pro Football Hall of Fame snubs....who should be in that isn't? Goalie Geek Out accompanied by Pelle featured Vladislav Tretiak and Pete Peeters while I had rod and reel in hand for John Candy Characters as I featured The Fishin' Musician from SCTV. Cool of the Week is the Edmonton Prospects playing a triple header on Saturday and winnin…

Episode 10 - Lowetide, TSN 1260
This week we chatted with a good friend of mine and the host of Lowedown with Lowetide, Al Mitchell of TSN 1260. I loved working with him because he's smart, funny and a great storyteller. He was all 3 of those things on this episode and more. We discussed the Oilers moves this summer and what will happen this season and beyond. Baseball is a love we both share so we discussed Hall Of Fame snubs and how fantasy baseball led to him chopping down a tree and his broadcasting career. In our Top 3 we asked you for your 3 guys who should be in the MLB HOF. Our Myron French Question of the Day was how many goals James Neal will score this season. We dusted off a rare John Candy Character where he repairs food. Best or Worst was me missing Lady Gaga to play golf and I want a private barber if I become obscenely rich!!! Enjoy. Subscribe. The legend of Metallica Drummer drops by the studio. Kevin Dabbs recored the legendary video in the early 90's and the VHS copy went viral before the internet!!! How did it happen? What came of it? What does Metallica think? It's an incredible story from an incredible person who has accomplished so much. Dabbs actually stuck around and co-hosted the whole show with me. Episode 7 - Krista Monson, Conceptor formerly of Cirque Du Soleil and Jamie Thomas, Jets TV
We love telling great stories and Krista Monson has one. She grew up in St. Albert and while it was a struggle to make her way into the entertainment world, she's done that and then some with 13 years preforming many tasks from writing to directing with Cirque Du Soleil and becoming the first women in the 100 year history of the Friedrichstadt Palast in Berlin to serve as writer and director. She has a unique sense of how Canadians are viewed world wide and a cool connection to an Olympic hockey gold medalist. We chatted with Jamie Thomas of Jets TV about our fantasy sports lives including a trade we made this week and what makes a league fun. We also touched on what categories we would add if we could and Jamie told a dynamite story of being a commish and trying to handle his drunk cousin at a draft. Where did the NHL draft go off course? How did the Oilers do? What were the best storylines in Vancouver this past weekend? We also kickstarted a new segment called Fantasy Fun Time with Jamie Thomas of Jets TV. Jamie and I go way back in broadcasting and I am in 3 fantasy leagues with him, so we'll be exploring that each week. Speaking of exploring, it's Wagons East this week on John Candy Characters and our Cool of the Week was Podsummit held in Calgary this past weekend. We discussed what he greatest band or artist is of all time and I'd like to give back in Obscenely Rich List. All that and the best golf hole I've ever played on this week's episode.
