The Fundraising Gala: How to Avoid The Rubber Chicken
Play • 34 min

In the first episode of season two, we tackle Fundraising Galas. A much-needed vehicle that serves to bring contributors together in an effort to generate additional revenue for organizations.  No stranger to these events are hospital foundations.  Government support for hospitals only goes so far, which is why Galas can be quite effective,  They can also be painfully dull.

We bring together 3 people who have been instrumental in developing world-class events that are now sold out well in advance and have substantial waiting lists:

  • Vicki Brydon, Public Relations Director for the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation,
  • Ashleigh Morriss, Special Events Officer and
  • Joelle Paleologou, Volunteer Co-Chair of the Gala Organizing committee.

With the support of forward-thinking leadership, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation has come a long way from the sleepy events of the past.  The glitz, glamour, entertainment and magic of the entire evening leaves a lasting impression on not only the attendees but the volunteers, the organizers and everyone associated with the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation. Learn what works, what didn’t and how 3 imaginative and driven people have taken Galas from boring into beautiful.
