The Grey NATO - 135 - Gishani!
It’s the first episode of 2021 and the TGN boys wanted to make it extra special, so they called in an extra special guest – Jason’s wife, Gishani Ratnayake! Responsible for much of the photography, underwater or otherwise that adorns Jason’s writing, Gishani sits down as a co-host to chat about watch photography, diving, great recipes from her home country of Sri Lanka, and a whole lot more. Gishani has been among the top requested guests for The Grey NATO for a long time and it was a treat to start the year with the opportunity to learn more about her history with everything from watches to diving, badminton, and even Jason. It’ a chatty and wide-ranging show and we can’t thank Gishani enough for being part of the entire recording. All you have to do is press play – thanks for listening! 0:01 Gishani's Instagram 4:42 Eddie Bauer Peak XV Suit 7:00 Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer pants 16:38 Eaton’s Vikings X472 Omni-directional speaker 20:05 Denon DSW 3L Subwoofer 23:24 Fleet Foxes “A Very Lonely Solstice” 26:40 Patagonia Nano puff vest 28:32 Leatherman Wingman multitool 29:30 Whisky Wallet (The Observer Collection) 36:22 UTE Natos in the Hodinkee Shop 41:10 How to Take Better Photos Of Your Watches – Without Buying A New Camera 59:45 37.5mm Planet Ocean Chronograph 1:23:35 Drawings for the new book about Dick Proenneke 1:26:04 Coconut Roti (flatbread) recipe 1:30:29 Manual Reusable Camera 001

Fratello On Air: Balazs And Mike On Their Favorite Vintage Chronographs Of All Time!
Balazs & Mike return with a new episode and we talk vintage Chronographs! First, it's a "Handgelenk Kontrolle" where Balazs is sporting a '70s Seiko 6139-7070. Mike is donning a 1960 Gruen Ocean Chief. News-wise, the gents discuss the new Omega Speedmaster Professionals, the recently announced 2021 European L.E.  Seiko Alpinist SPB201J1, and the MING 27.02 and Mike reveals a guilty confession.. Our main topic focuses on vintage Chronographs — the favorite style of watch to collect for both Balazs & Mike. It wasn't easy for each to pick their three favorites, but here they are! Balazs discusses the following three pieces: * Omega Speedmaster Mark II with Racing Dial, an attainable watch that both of us own! * Angelus Chronodato, with its unique display. He also touches on the 215 with Hungarian Air Force provenance as well. * Lemania 27chro, a watch that's worth knowing because of its tie to our favorite Moonwatch. Mike takes his turn on vintage chronographs and heads to the '60s: * Breitling 765 CP "Jean-Claude Killy", which ranks as one of the favorite watches in his collection. * Heuer Autavia 2446 "Jochen Rindt", an absolute classic that harkens back to the good old days of motor racing. * Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.012, an all-time classic that looks just as good today as it did back in 1967. We close out the show with some talk on Tritium dial Speedmaster models and a promise to return with vintage chronographs we'd like to buy. Enjoy the show!

Front End Chatter #130
Hello and welcome to Front End Chatter E130, and the first FEC of 2021; a brand new year, and hopefully things will get better – but some things stay the same and there’s not much chance of FEC improving any time soon. Thanks as always to Bennetts, the bike insurance specialists, and, home of all that’s good and virtuous in motorcycling. And on FEC this week, Simon and Martin chatter about: * Davide Brivio’s shock exit from Suzuki MotoGP team boss to F1... and who we’d choose to replace him * John McPint MBE has won an MBE from the Queenie, but who else has and who hasn’t? * when motorcycle manufacturers get market research wrong * hello to Aprilia’s new Tuono 660... * ...and goodbye; we mourn the passing of true racing and engineering pioneer, Peter Williams We also dive in the FEC sack and answer some timeless wonderings: * what was that about preload and ride height again? * winter hacks – it’s a love/hate thing * magazines are for old riders; YouTube is for young ’uns: discuss * are the Isle Of Wight Diamond Races going to happen in 2021? * all this and much more! Thank you very much for listening, thanks to Bennetts and for putting up with us, and please keep your thoughts, musings, queries and fact correcting coming to: Catch us on the Instas and Twitters: @SimonHbikes (but to be honest it’s more paracord hobbies and current affairs than bikes; I like to think it’s context) @Mufga (he’s funnier than me)
