#009 David Musumeci: How to Live Life Doing What You Love
Play • 1 hr 32 min

David was just a kid who loved music and he became one of Australia’s most successful pop music writer-producers.

He and his high school friend created DNA Songs in the 1990s and have been on the map since the early 2000s. They have been writing, producing & mixing songs for well-known names like Delta Goodrem, The Veronicas, Jessica Mauboy & Kate Alexa.

They’ve sold millions of records, and produced over 20 top 10s, 7 #1s & 3 apras.

But this wasn’t an easy journey without its challenges.

Imagine countless all-nighters leading to nothing & over a decade of rejection with almost no success to their name. And even when they had success needing to physically pull the Veronicas apart from killing each other in their studio…

“If you base the reason why you do something on the fiscal success, you’re always going to end up quitting”

David said it best when he said that “the heart of what you do must never be the money”. If you’re going to forgo immediate financial benefits then you must have more love, more passion & more dedication to your art than anyone else. You’ll then outlast everyone else and ultimately achieve success on your terms.

But this isn’t just about success in career & business.

This conversation is about all the gifts life has to offer…

…when you stay true to your heart.

“Working on yourself is just as important as working on your business.”
