46 | How to Be Productive When You Are Experiencing Seasonal Depression

If you've ever experienced the holiday blues, seasonal depression, or seasonal affective disorder (SAD for short), then you probably know just how difficult it is to actually get anything done and be productive.


If you're not familiar with SAD, it is a type of depression that is related to a change in the seasons.


Mayo Clinic says that SAD begins and ends at about the same times every year. They also share that if you're like most people with SAD, your symptoms start in the fall and continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody. These symptoms often resolve during the spring and summer months.


From my understanding, this arises because it gets darker a lot earlier during the winter time, so it feels a bit more gloomy. In addition, people start feeling extra lonely during the holiday season if they are already feeling lonely and/or have experienced a loss of a loved one.


All that to say, if you are experiencing this, I really do understand that when you are feeling this way, it is so difficult to get anything done. Because of that, you start feeling guilty and shaming yourself for not being productive, which in turn, causes you to get even less done. #iykyk


That being said, this episode is going to walk you through 5 tips to help you be more productive when you are experiencing this in this season because these are things that will help you manage the symptoms you're experiencing.
